No.3, Chocolate

I am purposefully picking one of my greatest weaknesses to focus my mind. Sweet or savory, raw or refined, dairy milk, milky bar or pure beans. Whatever you like. As long as it comes from cocoa thats all that matters.

If everyone is happy I'd suggest a closing of Sunday 6th 10AM, only reason being many people won't get time to do anything until the weekend and posting late Sat is a big ask. Lets face it, no-one is likely to be up at 6am on Sunday to get a late entry in!

Voting until the following Tues night the same?

Chocolate is your challenge. Go for it!

Hmmm. Not very good at puddings. [reaches for rice crispies, marshmallows and dairy milk]

Intriguing choice Tony!

I'm not a fan of puddings, but as Tony points out, chocolate can be used for savoury dishes. I will probably end up screen licking again!

Oh fook,

Like all the above, I like my chocolate in bars and wrapped around crispies and nouget/caramel/peanuts/raisins and the like. I have never, ever cooked with chocolate!

Can we have 2 weeks please!!

Sunday is only 4 days away.

Otherwise we are looking at 7 competitions a month, and I don't think mrs oilydan will be able to cope with my constant 'thinking out loud'.

Very good point, extended accordingly.

I never eat pudding at home so don't attempt them.

I suppose I could try a cake or something. If its ok I can always take it into work to be scoffed.

I appreciate that all food is about the eating (which makes a food photo comp pretty difficult) but surely chocolate is absolutely all about the eating?

A good chocolate brownie looks little better than a shaped turd but it's delight in its most wonderful form.

I don't know what you are whinging at - we all know you're more skilled with a bit of caster sugar and flour than ting tong with a ping pong ball

That's very kind of you to say so; unfortunately I make things that taste very good but have never mastered presentation biggrin

As I'm not a fan of desserts, I'll have to pass on this one. It's really more of a baking competition than a cooking competition. Honestly can't think of anything with chocolate in that isn't a dessert, other than chilli...

This has the potential to be a good comp, I've seen a couple of savoury dishes using chocolate, I think venison was one of them?

Oh, I agree, it will certainly be interesting! there's potential for some very odd combinations, although I expect most will go down the cakes/biscuits/tarts route.

Chocolate-coated Brussels Sprouts anyone? wink

And in all honesty, submitting chilli would make the 'product of the week' akin to salt.

She'll eat too many and spend the night complaining of stomach cramps.

I did a rack of venison with chocolate a good while ago actually. Worked very well if I recall.
