Not content with a scrapbook, pritstick and pens for my recipes, I decided tonight to build an interactive recipe database that I can add to and amend as the years go by.

I'm actually slightly ashamed of myself.

Once I've stopped slapping myself, I'll post some screenshots.

(oh and the best thing is, I can log into it via my phone and add recipes as people are telling me) paperbag

Tis no different to having a chefs recipie book - just the modern equivilent, honest biggrin

I don't have the patience to make a digital version, but I do love my chefs book, I always add things to it, stuff from magazines, recipies that have been handed down etc.

Mine is a little green book, needs redoing and laminating though cos the chocolate cake recipe page is going brown, the lemon one is yellow, carrot one orange

That's how homemade recipe books should be biggrin

I'm in two minds about this database as to whether it's actually bringing technology into something I love doing because of the lack of technology. Or I could be overanalysing something that ultimately matters not a jot.

Sounds much better than what I do ... I tend to write stuff down on scrap paper, with the intention of transferring it to a scrapbook or proper notebook, which I never do, so when I want to use a recipe / idea I have to leaf through loads of scraps of paper. I need a better method I think!

Perhaps I should make one. I built it in Filemaker so I could probably port it to Bento fairly easily!

I once had a recipe data sheet in excel which pulled info from a front sheet with prices and it costed out all of my recipes, left it on the computer of the last place I worked though before I left frown

I used to photograph the labels of all the beers I tasted then keep detailed tasting notes including price, colour, alcohol level, aroma, taste and overall score.
