Me, wife & son in London for weekend.

Always fancied Santa Maria del Sur after seeing it on Gordon Ramsay - but reviews now suggest it has gone down a bit.

Anyway, recommendations please.

yeah buenayre is cool. A bit hard to get to though (East london, not near any tube stations unless the new branch is open?)

Gaucho Grill is a safe bet, but quite "city boy".

Avoid Gaucho like the plague. (Or at least the one on Sloane Avenue.)

The 'chefs' are minimum-wage fktards who don't have a clue.

El Vaquero in Lullington Garth (between Finchley and Mill Hill)

Northern Line + cab as this place is in the middle of an equestrian centre.

Rodizio Rico. The meat is fantastic and you can have as much as you want. Amazing place.

A thumbs up from me for Santa Maria del Sur, I live almost next door and the standards certainly haven't slipped always a great evening.

Agree with the previous Gaucho post, I was always a fan though have seen the service and food go downhill.

thumbup This. Went recently (post Ramsay wink) and had a fabulous evening: sublime food, attentive service and very welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.

Don't go if you want a formal evening out though - it's much more relaxed than that. smile
