I bought mine specifically for 3xchips as chip pan plus thermometer is a total pita. its also used for tempura, breaded camembert, bhaji's, dim sum etc. no more than a few times a month as I hate cleaning the thing!

How do you make dim sum in a fryer, it has to be steamed surely?

you can do either with dumplings, wantons etc. but I wouldn't much fancy a steamed spring roll or hairy prawn.

I bought one to make home made fish in beer batter, bloody thing stank of fish no matter how many times I cleaned it so it went in the bin a few weeks later.

It did make fantastic fish though.

Buffalo Wings, can't think of a better reason to own a deep fat fryer. Way too much faff and cleaning etc to make chips that I can get at the corner chippy for a quid in 5 mins or less. Properly made wings will be nigh on impossible to find at a takeaway or restaurant though and are well worth the effort.

yes. not with standard batter though, the chippy near my high school used a sweeter batter. you can hear your heart slowing as you eat though!

Aww okay, might just try one (didn't really appeal in the past).
I can imagine there's a lot of calories hehe
