I've got a Chinese girlfriend, and it turns out many Chinese restaurants have a 'secret' menu with more traditional Chinese food which would probably scare most of the English out the door.
My Dad has just returned from Shanghai and has confirmed that there are virtually no similarities to the takeaway menu he is used to!Cockey said:

i've asked for it before. well, asked for it to be translated to me. most of it sounded rank tbh. fish lips and duck webs for instance.at a few indian restaurants i used to frequent in rusholme, i'd ask for whatever the staff curry was that night.

Incidentally, you used to be able to get a Monster Mac in Germany that was twice the size of the Mega.

ive been offered the 'staff' curry once from my local indian as i asked for chicken on the bone rather than the usual dried out chunks of fillet you get and it was the best curry I ever had from themat a few indian restaurants i used to frequent in rusholme, i'd ask for whatever the staff curry was that night.
thighs and legs slowly marinated in a spicy and not overly oily sauce, meat was falling from the bones.
When ordering from our local curry takeaway we ask for it 'Asian style' which basically gets you meat on the bone, more aromatics and more chilli.
I've eaten extensively from the Chinese Chinese menu in my locak Chinese restaurant, if that makes sense. There are some amazing dishes such as minced pork and aubergine casserole, soy marinaded chicken or duck, belly pork and some superb vegetable dishes.

I spotted a bag of Fish Lips in the freezer section of the local asian supermarket, couldn't find anything on google at the time to explain what they were or what you do with them. Any chance you could order a portion and report back?

A few details have emerged on the McDonalds secret menu here:

Has anyone ever tried to order any of this? I'm imagining any of your average MD employee looking at me a bit weird when I try to get a 'McGangbang'.

Depends who you get at my local one. I know there is a McDs bod on here who says they shouldn't but the one near me will do 1/2lb burger or bacon cheeseburger. It also helps if its later at night, they are not doing anything and, I guess, some of the meat has to be thrown at set times? IME try it at lunch time and you have no chance.
