A freind of the family had one that was a bit big for them, volume and weight so thought I might like it.

Its 26cm across in the original colour.

eek thats big, not sure what to use it for but a serious bit of kit.

Good present. The smaller 24" version retails for over £100.
I think you mean cm not inches wink

But yes well over £100 for the 26cm

My Dad has Le Creuset saucepans but I don't like using them, I find them difficult to lift as there is only one handle on one side whereas the casseroles are used two handed.
Do they not have a lip opposite the handle to help lift them?

I do chilli a lot in mine. Also really good for pot roast, brown the meat on the hob, add everything else and whack in the oven. Great for slow cooking too, it really retains the heat. Or a roast chicken, comes out really well too, you don't get the crispy skin but the flavour is immense. It's the modern chicken brick.
How do you pot roast the chicken? I'd like to try this.
I had to look up what a chicken brick was but the same idea would work in a casserol dish

Should be 4-5 quid, and any departments store that sells LC will stock it, ie. Debenhams/John Lewis etc. Or most cookshops (but not Lakeland, who don't do LC).
As I didn't get any instructions, can I chuck it in the dishwasher? Their own site says they are dishwasher safe

You don't pot roast chicken, (since you don't brown it and cook in liquid)
How about poached chicken?
