HELP! bulletproof cake recipe required

Hi all,
Where I work the ladies are always bringing in baked goods and trying to outshine each other with their domestic goddess prowesseseseses(sp?) and the last time I bought a (lopsided) baked product in it didn't go down to well (apparently chocolate and lemon don't go together as well as you'd think)
So anyways I have once again been challenged to bring in some wares on Monday, so I'm asking, nay begging, for your help, I don't need to beat them, I just don't want my cake sat there uneaten while the ladies snigger into their macarons.
It doesn't have to be a cake, indeed my first thought was cupcakes...please...help...
I will document the entire process in pictures and add it to the baking thread, no matter the outcome.
