all girls. The things that used to happen after lights out.... that;s for another time.

Masacara black eyeliner, red lips, black backcombed hair. I even did the full cross-dressing bit sometimes using bandages. Weird.

Lagartija Nick was actually my favourite Bauhaus track IN the 80s. I've only switched to In the Flat Field in recent years. Thanks for the link to that video though; I'd never seen that.
thought you'd hit the sack, im still on you tube thanks to you! watching Killing Joke - The Death & Resurrection Show........
reading this Sat AM lol , my personal fav Bahaus has to be Bela Lugosis Dead , what an intro ! I always remember the Annie Nightingale "Hi" about 1 minute into the intro as its a song that you could do that with rolleyes

Winston Bazoomies, the guitarist, came on first with the band and led them through an instrumental...then they started the second song and Buster came on. We didn't know what had hit us!!!

Ah, The Only Ones.
Great band, purveyors of THE single of the times. Sadly badly covered by Blink and 'advert'-ised (although that has brought it to the uneducated masses. biggrin )
It's a shame that The Vibrators original from whence the riff was stolen doesn't at least get some mention......

So many bands I'd forgotten about, I'll have to dig out the vinyl today!
Suffering lack of sleep today, this thread prompted me to dig out the DVD of Jubilee!
Oh memories of the parties at Butlers Wharf!

Mid 80's was my psychobilly era! Guanabatz, Frenzy, Demented Are Go, Long Tall Texans, Restless, Highliners, King Kurt. Most Saturday nights at the Klubfoot (Clarendon) in Hammersmith with my enormous hairspray-solid bleached white quiff! Cool!... at the time!

Still listening to psychobilly in my car every day!

Bing! Well remembered. Hammersmith Clarendon. Saw Zodiac Mindwarp, GBOA, Poppies etc there. That's where the 'beer over Clint' incident occured. So many of those pub venues seem to have disappeared (unless they have just moved elsewhere). Health & Safety rules? Remember the Greyhound in (erm....) Fulham Palace Road?

Did anyone use to frequent the indie night on Sundays at the gay club 'Heaven', under the Arches at Charing Cross station? Some promoter had hired the place to put on all of the top 'names' at the time - probably 1985. (They have weird bogs in gay clubs - like peeing against a mirrored wall!)

im sure you mentioned the doors and the cult....

my favourite doors song...........
Excellent. Didn't the Doors do a tour with Astbury on vocals? So funny to see him looking 'normal' - have never seen him like that. Though he looks more like Lou Reed than Jim Morrsion!

Great linky though!

Mark I am fascinated that you were around the Poole /Bournemouth scene at the same time - I bet you went to the same gigs as me??? How old are you - where did you go to school?

Undertones x 6 Southampton/Poole/Bournemouth Winter Gardens
Clash & Siouxsie at Poole Arts Centre
Adam & the Ants (first album time) Bournemouth
Selector/Specials/Beat Two Tone gig in Bournemouth - can't rememeber what it was called but there was a roller disco there sometimes.
Skids - Winter Gardens
Buzzcocks - Winter Gardens (Joy Division)
Generation X - Bournemouth
XTC - Poole Arts Centre

To name a few.... we used to go to Poole Arts Centre discos (with the suspended floor) and moved on to the Third Side in the Triangle in Bournemouth when we could finally get in... Paul Presland had a shop in the Triangle selling Rockabilly/Psychobilly/Goth clothing. Weridly I ran into him last year on his (substantial) boat when a few of us moored overnight at the Beer Festival. I thanked him for selling me clothes that made me look like the biggest tt of my life.

I was in the army in Andover from 79-82 and used to go to gigs in Guilford Uni usually. The trip too Poole was worth it to see the clash.
Saw the Pirahnas play a Southampton pub and used to do Bournemouth on weekends.. Saw many goups at Guiford though including Captain Beefheart and his magic band..
Went back up to Leeds in *2 and continued to watch , The Cramps , Siouxse , play dead etc etc at the Leeds Warehouse.

Youtube tip: Just put 'Whistle Test' into the search function (covers all the Old and Grey variants then). Over a thousand results and all studio stuff, so clearer than amateur gig recordings.
