I don't dispute the fact that there are many others with the same or even greater talent that never get the chance to utilize it (I used to work in a menial warehouse job with one of them). Doesn't change the fact that she has the talent. Its a reflection of the music industry that it has to be fiddled with and over dressed in order to create chart success. Is that her fault?. Probably not, though she does perpetuate it and I can't say I even wrong her for taking advantage of the situation. It certainly beats actually working for a living.

For the record I don't like either of her two current hits, but it is refreshing to hear a pop singer that can actually sing. I think all the current crop of "popsters" should be made to do live acoustic sets to prove their worth...lets see how many can sing vs how many rely on studio production and over dubbing etc.

I love the OOMPAH band version, but I have visions of Inga from Sweden...

"but you're wearing lederhosen..."

I'm not a great fan of LG, but the performance she did on American Idol a few weeks back was outstanding. She can definitely sing.

I also like the Brass Band version of the Röyksopp track Happy Up Here.

That's ace.

If you can't see / understand it, it's "Poker face" reworked as a German oompah band song. If you've ever been to a German beer festival you'll know the kind of thing.

They've changed the lyrics to be all about copping off with a Fraulein at Oktoberfest, tempting her with your trouserpanzer etc.:

Pokergesicht - der grosse humppa

as performed by humppa orchestra "Kanalpluslive"
lyrics T Joensuu K Sartori L Wagner

komm jetzt meine sexy baby ganz schnell rüber hier

Please full translation, my CSE in German only gives me about 40% of that....
It says....

Don't mention the war...

I did, but I think I got away with it...

Just watched that and she obviously has a gift, just a shame that the industry is such that she has to resorts to gimmicks and "image" to make it as a singer.

I watched her on Johnny Ross and the thing with the tea cup and her great pains to get it into every camera shot was tedious. I did come away with the thought that she was a pop or style "creation", but I see I was wrong about her actual talent.

I will always appreciate true singing talent even if it means having to put up with the packaging.
Not being funny but what she does in the live lounge is something many many people can do. She is nothing special and the fact she has to resort to that utter ste that continues to dominate the airwaves (English public fail) unfortunately means I can never take her seriously. Not that it will bother her with her no.1 album.
You do realise that she's written songs for people before she adopted the Lady Gaga persona? She is actually talented and that much is obvious from a few different things she's done. She's also clearly nuts but I have very little doubt that it is a character she plays and in no way reflects her personally. As for her music, it's better than most 'pop' music out there.

I prefer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpDNxA7v9EM

I know you only see him play the drums, but he says that 'All the Guitars, Bass and Drums we're recorded by me'. Would have liked to see him make a montage of them all, but I do like the heavier sound.

In my opinion her music is amongst the worst pop out there, and epitomises what ste pop music has become.

every bit as good as any of the more "credible" singer/songwriters out there.

If the single was released in that style I can see rave reviews in the NME and mediocre sales. Certainly no No.1 hits and magazine covers.

She seems pretty talented and a bit eccentric, which tend to go hand in hand. My distrust of "pop" acts genuinity questions her though.

... who seems to believe that he is the "messiah" of pop music and we should all be grateful for his hard efforts and dedication. He comes across as embittered and resentful that those who give awards and credit musicians and musical talent per se, seem to ignore his broods.

The fact that he brings McDonalds type pap music to the masses seems to be beyond his comprehension.

While I think "Just Dance" is a bit drab, I really like "Poker Face" and agree with those who say she's one of the more talented pop singers out there. There's hundreds that I'd happily ditch before I got rid of her.

Those two rock covers were pretty good as well music
