As i wait for my new phone - can i stream from spotify using the standard account i have or do i need a premium account?

Last time I checked on my iPhone you needed a premium account.
Not sure about other phones but I have no reason to doubt that it's the same.

Can't say I've ever had any problems and my home connection is nothing special. I don't think it's ever stopped to buffer. It obviously has a substantial cache as it'll keep playing for ages after the network cable is unplugged!

just signed up to premium after using the open version for a month

I am now spending so much more time listening to music.. you can also have offline playlists on your iPhone so it has basically turned music into a utility for me.
