Hylton Valentine and I think John Steel from The Animals were a few years above me and Dave Black who went on to form Goldie (a popular one hit band from the 70;s). Dave still does the rounds of Tyneside -haven't seen him for a few years.
In case you missed it, Dave died in what appears to be rather tragic circumstances last Saturday.RIP Blackie

Kula Shaker just before me, and some bloke called Jamie T after me.
Crispian Mills was the singer for Kula Shaker we were in the same year and house. He was always strumming away on a pink Fender strat. Bit of a tt really.
James Blunt was at my Prep school in the year below, I was his allotted mentor for his first term.

Matt Letley, for many years the drummer with Status Quo, was one of my best mates at school.
I also remember teasing Nitin Sawhney at lunchtimes, he was a couple of years younger.
I'm pretty sure someone else famous also went there, maybe it'll come to me (Rochester Math).
Whilst still at school I used to jam with other mates at James JTQ Taylor's house.
Woman across the road from me when I was a nipper is Elton John's cousin.
I briefly dated a woman who lived off the royalties she received monthly from her divorce settlement - her ex played bass for a VERY famous 60s/70s band. He's no longer famous, lives as a recluse in another country.
And my cousin, who shall remain nameless, has had more top 40 hits than you could shake a stick at.
I frequently wish I'd pursued a career in music, I just wasn't confident enough.
I was at Uni with Nitin Sawhney - for a year. He cleared off to do music and I stuck with law. I also remember teasing Nitin Sawhney at lunchtimes, he was a couple of years younger.
