I'm looking to sell my amp and one of my guitars, not sure what is the best route?

I'm (perhaps needlessly) wary of ebay, so do people still look at the back pages of Guitarist or anything?

Try www.soundonsound.com and the classifieds on Ultimate Guitar http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/forumdisplay....

You could also try the Amps forum on Harmony Central as they have a UK classifieds thread that runs there.

All appear to be pretty active, and I've bought from a few of those sources without issue smile

Out of interest, what do you have for sale?

What are you selling? biggrin

Go here and register; www.musicradar.com/forum -it's the forum for the future music magazines, Guitarist, Guitar Techniques etc. There's a classified section, I've sold lots of stuff on there biggrin

Thanks both, I'll have a look at those sites.

Selling my Mesa Boogie MkIV and my Patrick Eggle Berlin - I've barely touched them for probably the last three years except to give them a clean and check they're working, so they'd be better off with someone who would use them. smile

As much as I'd love to be interested in the Mark IV, I think I've too many amps already!

Will be worth you posting an ad for it here too : http://forum.grailtone.com/index.php

How much are you looking for the Mk IV? biggrin

i wouldn't dismiss ebay out of hand. i sold my gretsch 5124 on their last year - paid £450, sold for £400 - as well as my fender blues jr - paid £320, sold for £300. the best part was ebay cancelled both my ads as i stated 'as new' in the titles, meaning i got my listing fees refunded and negotiated with the high bidders to complete outside of paypal!

Is there a patrick eggle forum site? There must be one for mesa, I'd list there.

how i wish i still had my gretsch frown

I sold a Mesa DC5 head on flea-bay a while back and many guitars ...never had a problem (just remember 'buyer collects' - costs a sheadload to ship stuff like that as a one off) ....just out of intrest is your Mesa a combo?......if so I may be interested

cheers

Ebay is usually ok, as long you clearly specify UK only buyers and expect a realistic price.

I've had some success with selling music gear on Gumtree too..

The amp is a MkIV combo, and the guitar is an early Berlin from the original factory when they only made the Berlin and the Berlin Pro (i.e. "Patrick Eggle" script on the body-coloured headstock and "Berlin" on the truss-rod cover).

I need to do a bit more research about prices but I'm thinking something like £1000 for the amp, maybe £500 for the guitar - really not sure, though.

Thanks again everyone, I'll maybe put a link here when I get them advertised.

Good luck. You shouldn't have a problem shifting the MkIV. Every one I've seen come up for sale has had a number of enquiries and not long before a sale. The combos are easy to convert to a head too so you tend to get buyers looking for combos even for potential head conversions.

Jamie, please can you post pics of the guitar. I can give you an idea of value.
