I've just stuck a Dimarzio X2N in my (mahogany bodied and fixed bridge) Ibanez RGA and have just been blown away by the sound! The Ibanez V8 that it replaced wasn't bad but this is something else.

It's going through a TSL122 and it sounds absolutely devastating, tuned down to C. It kicks out 510mv apparently but is not noisy at all either which was a surprise.

So if you're looking for an extremely heavy, tuned down, crushing overdrive, this is what you need! biggrin

I had a X2N in the bridge position of my Joe Despagni JEM, sounded awesome.... i really should of took it out before i sold it.

was a cool little thing, needed some work done on it that i could not really be bothered doing.

Unfortuneatly i bought it with very little history known, the person i bought it off of said it came from a collector who said it was an early prototype for the JEM's Joe Despagni built for Steve Vai. I took that with a big pinch of salt though as there is no proof of this.

wish i did a bit more digging on its history when i had it now.

on another note, i am undecided whether to fit a DiMarzio X2n or Evolution to replace the stock ibanez bridge pickup on the RG320 i just bought.

What kind of music do you play?

If its heavy choose the X2N, if it's rather more subtle a la Mr Vai I'd go for the Evolution which will give you more scope for articulation. There is nothing subtle about the X2N!

That's why I like it evil
