Why not just have a dedicated PH car park? - would get all the interesting cars in one place, and get a degree of social interaction, bit like a Sunday Service - entrance by smiley sticker?
Guess the organisers would still want their £8 per car though
It is not the organisers that insist on £8 for car parking, it is the venue sadly.Guess the organisers would still want their £8 per car though

Exactly that. We did ask for 2011 and the NEC said 'fine, all you need to do is pay us for all the £8 we'll lose' Guess the organisers would still want their £8 per car though
We checked our pockets and could only raise £3.75 and a fruit polo
i have to say i had a good time at the PHP show, met some new faces and caught up with some of the old faithful. there is just nothing like starting the pre-season - EARLY (9am-6pm 8¦ everyday). the trade days did seem a tad overpopulated by very young (student) traders looking for (free) samples, but we were saved on the weekend by the enthusiast army. thanks to all that came to the stand and helped make a great start to the season.
may the Dodo be with you (p.s. i have been informed this is too cheese to write on other forums but have yet to be told here)

Must say I had an enjoyable brief visit to your stand and ended up coming away with your box and clay bar set, the kids seemed entertained with the clay bar on the panel may the Dodo be with you (p.s. i have been informed this is too cheese to write on other forums but have yet to be told here)

I thought the show was good this year. Plenty to see and do. My biggest gripe was that my ticket said it included a show guide, when I went to get one I was told this was a miss print and would have to buy one! Not good.
That's not good at all. Although I'm not directly involved in the show organisation I could try and lay my hands on one for you. OK, so it's no good for guiding you now, but it has some additional content and is a decent memento.....theDodo said:

My car was in the PH show a couple of years ago and I would be happy for the current toy to be in next years show. Having somewhere to clean the cars is important though and there was a glitch in the year my car was there as we were told that the cars would be cleaned but they weren't. I was embarrassed when I saw mine on display as it was grubby despite my careful wash and wax beforehand.

Next year just a thought, PH should less be about enterprise (ie flogging rubbish) & focus more on the social aspect of the site. After all that's ur USP, great like minded people exchanging ideas & opinions.
It's 'flogging rubbish' that pays the bills I'm afraid. We did have quite a few PH member chats on our sofas, and they did work better than the open area we had in 2010. We laid on some tables and chairs last year, as well as giving the option of printing your own PH name badges. Both were underused sadly
By this I mean take all the various popular sub-categories such as food& drink, photography etc and invite various trade stands and demonstration's based on those 'man things'.
I know it would lessen the car show somewhat but if you are going to brand a show as PH then surely it is worth basing it on what makes the brand so successful in the first place?
I think before planning the 2012 show should start, you should have a focus group at one of your Sunday sessions to understand what makes Pistonheads so special? Truly understand what are your USP's what makes you have such a large & varied car ownership group? What the members would like to see next year?
Only once you understand this, then you can begin to plan for next year.
My suggestions
1) Personally I think the Pistonheads car show should become a summer garden party! Possibility look to get a stand at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Then there will be the opportunity for a selection of the readers car to do the Hill Climb. There are lots or fine and rear cars owned on this forum. By a garden party, this would mean a bar, bbq and music, why not have a live band I'm sure there are guys like my self on here who would all like to have a go who are half decent. To me that captures the true nature of what Pistonheads stand for. To me its capturing that BTAP atmosphere, which the show this year didn't.
I would be more than happy to volunteer my services and get involved in the planning of next years show?

I went to the autosport show 3 years ago, the pistonheads bit was fantastic loads of fast road cars and members rides it was brilliant.
This year the pistonheads area appears to have become similar to the rest of the show, filled mainly with motorsport stands with a few nissans in 1 corner a pile of vx220's in the other and a load of cars owned by a car rental club on the back wall.
What happened?
Just for info. the cars along the back wall were not from a rental company, but members cars from the AutoAdrenalin.co.uk Car ClubThis year the pistonheads area appears to have become similar to the rest of the show, filled mainly with motorsport stands with a few nissans in 1 corner a pile of vx220's in the other and a load of cars owned by a car rental club on the back wall.

I think it was definitely missing that something - Zondas, Koeniggsegg (sp), loads of top end car porn which would have been nice, but better than nothing.
For context, Harry Metcalfe mentioned that to get his Zonda and 340R delivered to the MPH Shows was nigh on £2000 (hence his was still sitting in the barn in November). For the really top end stuff it's worth remembering that someone's often putting their hand in their pocket so that we can enjoy it.
I didn't go to this years show but I wnet a coulple of years ago and Iloved the PH section loads of different cars on display TVR's, Escort Cosworths Elises etc it was good to see a real mix.
One thing that suprises is me and that's that owners expected the carsa to be clean my dad used to do the classic car show with the JDC and he had to clean his own car.
I'm hoping to go to next years and I'm looking forward to seeing lots of great cars of all types

I'll be going to both the Top Gear and Autosport Shows with a new perspective now that i have joined this Forum. Been to the TG Show before as i enjoy the Entertainment of the Live Show and having done that, wandered off to the Classic Bike Show (Biker not Petrolhead).
Now that i have a car that fits in with the Crowd here (Vauxhall Monaro),i will attend with a different frame of mind and a feeling of "belonging" there. It'll be interesting to see if my view of the Shows alters.

To be fair to the owners they were told that Autoglym would detail the cars. Plus no facilities were avaiable at all to clean the car yourself. One thing that suprises is me and that's that owners expected the carsa to be clean my dad used to do the classic car show with the JDC and he had to clean his own car.
