AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL 2013 - Questions and What To Expect.
Discussion
Hello.
I'm going to Autosport International at the NEC Birmingham, on Friday 11th January (Trade day), and just wanted to ask some questions as i have never been to the event before and it is all new to me.
1. Firstly, is the Pistonheads show included in the price and what access do i get?
2. Secondly, how do i actually enter the Pistonheads show? Yes it's a slightly dumb question but i want to know whether the halls are joined together in one event or is it a matter of walking out of Autosport and into the Pistonheads show across the other side of the exhibition centre?
3. Thirdly, what cars can i expect to see while in Autosport/PH? I'm really into my supercars and that will be the main reason why i'm going, to see some new exotic cars which i haven't seen before.
4. Finally, who's going to be there? It would be nice to see someone famous.
Thanks chaps!

The Ph show opens on the 12th after the trade days Rob
Oh no, you're kidding me? That's the only reason i bought tickets; so i could go into both shows on the day!Edited by Viper on Wednesday 19th December 15:11
EDIT: Can't the Pistonheads events team change the dates so i can get in on the Friday? Just a thought.

Based on previous years:
1. Yes. You can walk around all of it.
2. It's in the corner of the main exhibition. The difficult bit is working out where one finishes and the other starts.
3. There's not much in the way of new supercars that I've noticed. Primarily, it's a motorsport show, focussing on the technical side of things, so supercars from big manufacturers don't really feature. For example, I think the biggest stand last year was either Radical or Ginetta.
4. Try the official website - they list the famous people they've booked. It's not like Goodwood where there's famous people and supercars everywhere you look. There's displays of iconic racing cars surrounded by a whole host of companies selling cars, parts and events. There's an exhibitors list you can use to see what companies will be there.
Good answers, thanks for that. 1. Yes. You can walk around all of it.

On number three you said that there are no real supercars there, but i assume you were talking about the Autosports show and not the two shows combined? I'd like to hear what cars show up at the Pistonheads show as well (Not that it really matters now though, my dates were wrong!)

^^ What he said.
The PH element of the show is open for the whole four days, however you can't buy a public ticket for Thursday or Friday. They are only open to trade eligible or MSA Licence holders/BRSCC members.
Hence the consumer marketing focuses on the weekend show, but a lot of the marketing you'll see here and on places like Autosport advertises the 10-13 dates. Confusing I realise, but Autosport International is effectively a trade show and a consumer show wrapped up into one event.
Okay, i'm still a little unsure about this though. I've got trade day tickets for Autosport International on the Friday, so do i get access to the Pistonheads show or don't i? Please say yes....

With the exception of the Live Action Arena, all tickets (public or trade) give you access to all areas once you're inside the show. There are no barriers to the PH show, just a change of carpet colour and content from the main hall. Please say yes....

It won't be there yet, or at all. It'll be in the programme when you get there, or the usual large maps in the halls.
How come? They have had the maps online in previous years when the Classic Motor Show was on so how come they don't have any for Autosport International? The reason i want one is because i like to plan out a route around the show so i visit all the places i want to go to first and don't miss anything...

Any chance someone could take a photo of the map while at the show and post it up here by 7:20am tomorrow morning?
Thanks
Trust me, you won't get lost. Thanks
I've already told you, i wanted one to plan out my route around the show, so i don't miss anything and manage to get the best shots before people start crowding around the cars.
