I having problems trying to sources 245/45 R16 tyres here in dubai.

I'm thinking of ordering some in uk and having them delivered to my UK office, then picking them up myself next week and bringing them back as part of my luggage allowance. Each tire being 10kg say and you are allowed 30 kg with Emirates, as I only need two tires that will give me 10kg for my gear.

Anyone see any issues with this? customs etc, what can you bring back through?

Alternatively a friend of mine ships thousands of dollars of parts here weekly from the States and has accounts and/or dealer status with enough places over there.

Let me know if you need a quote.
Does he do Porsche parts? I'm trying to source a cheap/refurbed alternator for a '98 2.5l Boxster, because the OPC here thinks they're hand carved from unobtanium!
I get all my porsche parts either through ARM Motors or from various suppliers from the states at about 70% the cost elsewhere.

Have you tried the pirelli place near the airport? Was the only place that I could find half decent tyres at a reasonable price for the 207 rc. I had to travel from Abu dhabi as the size was so rare in the UAE..
I haven't but will do. Many thanks.
I will also check that out at the weekend, ta.
