You are going to race it though!? When fixed.

Get a Photobucket or similar account, load up the scan pic's / files. Then you will get a link like the below (I have left off the first character ([) other wise it would just print the pic).

On the MARSH ASTON V8 Monster (the one in the start of the thread pics). Christ from those pics and others where you can see the full size of the massive front slicks (and they are heavy things + the aero) - Christ you have to be a strong bugger to move those things at anything other walking pace or higher. I bet they have PAS on it now wink - Gregor - not many racers built like you Dad was - i.e. most likely fine for him / you would not want to be in a fight with! My only non PAS GTV6 was bad enough (but fine once moving).

The silver Aston was fairly easy to drive as not much downforce and could be driven on the throttle but the blue cars were both ground effect cars with added downforce and bigger engines but with less torque so you couldn't drive them on the throttle and had to go faster then normal to get the downforce to work (something Mark Hales in a CCC mag test just couldn’t get used to).
As for Dad’s size, as I said on the British GT fitness thread a while back Dad was actually into fitness when he was younger, it was only in latter years after having both knees and a hip replaced and then having an op on his spine to have several vertebrae fused that his fitness went down. Apparently some development has been done on the last V8 so will be interesting to see what it’s like when (if!!) it comes back out.

Good to see you posting on here Peter and look forward to seeing some pictures of Malcolm’s old E-Type. What plans do you have for it?

Looks fine to me - only minor stuff (is the engine in it (no carbs / Fi sticking out)?).

I'll Drive it for you. (Seriously).

Bodywork looks okay and IIRC the engine is a long way back and down.

There not that big are they?? Look fairly normal. Love seeing all these pics. Spent my childhood watching these cars but was to young to really appreciate them!

Whereabouts in Lincs? I'm up there Sunday and Monday (nr Boston). As for Cadwell I don't think Jelly enjoyed his recent trip there!!

Also Tim - Eric's E-type came up on TNF; his accident at Brands is well-remembered!!

If you mean the modsport one I remember that about 18 months ago, some guy in France had it and wanted silly money for it. I can't find the thread now though, have you got a link?

Thanks for the link Gregor. After Eric had recovered from the crash he rebuilt the car into a modsport E with a 390ci Cadillac engine. It never raced though and was abandoned for around 10 years until I made an attempt to restore it. Being a naive teenager it was beyond me and I ended up selling it. It then resurfaced last year in France but the owner sold it without telling me even though I had asked for first refusal. Here's a picture of it around 1966.

and how it was last year

HELLO, I HAVE JUST GOOGLED MY CAR, ( LIKE YOU DO ) AND FOUND THIS CHAT ROOM. MY NAME IS PETER AND I OWN THE ROB BEERE / MALCOLM HAMILTON V12 RACER. YOUR CHAT FORUM SEEMS TO HAVE SEVERAL MISTAKES IN IT BOTH ABOUT ME AND THE CAR. 1. I DO NOT HAVE PLENTY OF DISPOSABLE !! FAR FROM IT.. I AM TRYING TO SELL ANOTHER CAR I HAVE IN ORDER TO FINANCE THE REBUILD. 2. NO, THE CAR WAS NOT SERIOUSLY DAMAGED AND IS EASILY REPAIRABLE. THE CAR DID SUFFER BODYWORK DAMAGE BUT NOTHING STRUCTURAL.. ONLY COSMETIC. THE CAR HAS NOT YET BEEN REBUILT AND IS MUCH AS IT WAS WHEN IT HAD ITS ACCIDENT IN 2001.
IF THIS CHAT FORUM IS INTERESTED IN THE CAR PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER.
You lucky lucky lucky man!
As I said at the start of this thread, that car is without doubt my favorite car of all time.
I would love to see as many pics as possible.
Glad to hear it isn't too badly damaged, it didn't look too bad at the time but others seem to think it was quite terminal.
So what are the chances of seeing that beast on the track again at any point?

Exact = we are waiting.

Is it going to be raced? If not TBH Who Cares. It is as good as useless and not even worth discussing if it is just going to sit under a dustsheet.

Come on - You have surely entered it (or going to Enter the AMOC Super GT series. (We don't want it full of just modern mildly modded road Porkers and Fezza's (Snoresville)....

Geofrey Marsh if you are listening - Bring Out the Big V8 Bruiser Gerry used to race for this (with a Ballsy Driver).

After watching Phil Bennett race an Aston in AMOC a couple of years ago, I reckon he would be not only successful, but also very entertaining too.

Dear Oversteer, thankyou for your interest in the car. Even though the damage is not that bad it will still take many thousands to get it back on the track. For this reason my other modsports e-type is up for sale in order to finance this project. One thing I would love to achieve is to increase its top speed to have a go at the speed record currently held by the car at 184mph.
Since purchasing the V12 I have been trying to trace its history ( what meetings it entered etc etc ) as both Rob and Malcolm kept very little information like that. So perhaps if anyone has any specific info, perhaps they could let me know. You may well have more photos of the car than I have! kind regards, Peter.

why was the car not fixed by Hamilton?

the amount invested in that thing - it should have been fixed and out for the NEXT Meeting?

When will it be out?

Dear Jelli, I was (am) very friendly with the entire Rob Beere Racing team and IIRC the problem was simply one of money. They knew they had to try and increase the performance to stay super competitive and the repairs to the car after the crash together with any lightening and modifications they wanted to make were just too much for the team. It was a terrible shame and Malcolm and Rob were close to tears at the time.
Still, if it can be repaired I promise I will race against it once more. Come to that, if any of the cars come out to play I will be there. This year has been difficult due to other commitments taking all the budget but next year will be better (markets willing!).
I was proud to be part of Intermarque and race against those cars and drivers as I considered it to be the pinnacle of club motorsport. When I first started Malcolm and Gerry were miles ahead. They were the men to beat and it was only through hard work that we got there. I also think thanks must go to the AMOC and Roger Bailey for allowing the championship to develop as it did. Its a shame it all imploded but there is no room for politics here!
Richard.
