Here you go, to save everyone watching me lap slowly, 2.10 onwards shows you nose in front and then off. Camera position is a bit cr*p and I should have really had cam 2 on the rear but will be sorted for Snetterton

One question for all drivers, I am no where near a good driver and am now confused about heel-toe. It seems that your foot was always on the clutch when you were using your heal to blip the throttle, I just wondered what that does as the clutch is in? Probably a very dumb question.
I've always loved the MR2 championship having previously owned one of each Mk (my wife has a Mk3 now) and I've always thought, one day I'll race in this series, but now, I'm not so sure.
Frightening footage, glad everyone was OK and to get bacok OT, I'm glad it looks like the OP had a great first weekend, even if he did spin, it still looks great fun.
Best of luck to all of you for the rest of the season, maybe I'll try and get to a race this year.

Guys just spoke to Zac on the phone and he's in good health and fine. He said he's damaged the ligaments in his left hand and the grone where the 6 point harness was has left him a purple bruise which will fade with time. But the main thing is he's ok.
He recalls the accident as the car in 3rd locked up, and knocked him and sent him 45'O off line. He then braked hard but there was not enough run off area to slow the car down. He could see the barrier coming to him at a very fast speed. On impact the barrier bent and launched both cars. The rest its just sky, gravel, sky, gravel, sky.....
He said he does not remember hearing any thing, apart from after the car came to a rest, the engine was still running. So he switched the engine off. The drivers door remarkably was the only bodywork that was not damaged or marked in the accident!! Luckily it was still operational and he could simply step out.
He got out of the car and wanted to sit down after the accident, but when he looked over at car 55, which was on its roof and leaking fuel, he could see fire blankets and paramedics, he just wanted to get out of there and headed back to the pits to see his dad.
Sadly because of the way car 55 landed, it took 30 mins to cut the driver out of the car. Both drivers are recovering, the driver in car 55 took a serious knock to the head, there is lots of swelling but nothing serious.
Just glad both drivers are fine.

No to thruxton I believe brands and silverstone are your locals.
Others this year are Donington (twice), Snetterton, Pembrey, Mallory, Silverstone
I shall have to come along to Silverstone then, I'll check the calender and see if I'm around.Others this year are Donington (twice), Snetterton, Pembrey, Mallory, Silverstone
I'll have to come to the October Silverstone meet, I'm in New York for the August meet (watching Tennis).
New footage (HD) of this incident taken at the top of the grandstand from the BarnettMotorsport team viewing position. By far the best angle with clear view of initial contact tipping Zac into Andrei.
Rob Barnett - Car 36 was in the race but not involved.

Matt UH how you getting on in the MR2 Championship?
really well!Since brands we hit Snetterton next.
Out of 45 odd cars I qualified ~ 25th.
Heat 1 I got up from 25th to 21st and then Race 1 I got up from 21st to 16th.
Heat 2 I got up from 25th to 22nd and then in Race 2 I got up from 22nd to 16th again.
I was very happy to get 16th on my second ever race.

2 Days ago it was Mallory Park, VERY wet and I was not used to this, nor was the car setup particularly well, my tyres were very warn and I Had not scrubbed in my new set so did not use those which would have been better with a lot more tread. Either way I went out in qualifying and got stuck in... Here is the video of qualifying including a little visit into the barrier...

Still editting my race videos but there was some very close racing considering visibility was so bad! I think I finished around 20th.
Still very much getting used to the car and need some testing time, hoping to get a test day at Donnington next week as we visit Donnington for our next race in 3 weeks from now!
