Malcolm Hamilton's E-type
Discussion
Hi, not sure weather you guys know this, next year is the 50th annivesary of the e-type, Donnington are having a race to mark the occasion as they have done every decade, so far their have been 85 entries or enquiries.
I am currently working on a e-type racer belonging to Bernie Breeze (not the old Hamilton 6 cyl one )
I guess as Malcoms 12 cyl car is up for sale that it wont be there (shame) but it will certainly be a good day.
Amazing to think the design is 50 years old, but still looks timeless on the road or track.

Oi!
You cant just post that message without including some photos of some "work in progress" on the car. Its just...not fair.
Thanks for the heads-up on the Donington celebration. I'd imagine there would be a run from Coventry to Donnington too- that would be a sight to see, and include some great roads.

Update to the forum ........... THE REBUILD HAS STARTED !!!!
Brilliant news, one of my favorite cars of all time. I remember as a kid watching it along with chamberlains prosche, marshalls Aston and the wildcat esprit etc....lets hope it gets back on track where it belongs!Hi again, sorry for the long delay with the update.
The bodywork damage has now nearly all been repaired, several panels have been replaced and some repaired.
Thankfully the central tub was undamaged so the car is straight and true once again.... only a few small areas to finish now... eg the rear diffuser.
We haven't painted the car yet but shall wait until all the dirty mechanical jobs are finished.
What has taken much longer than we thought was the rear end rebuild. After the crash in 2001 Rob Beere started a complete rethink / rebuild of the rear end. This included removal of the damaged underneath ( where the diffuser attached etc ) and doing away with the normal E type rear end arrangement of a cage housing the diff, suspension etc.. Unfortunately this was barely started and it has taken two months to just rebuild this element of the car, getting the ride height / geometry correct etc.
A lot of the car was dismantled when I bought it and several parts had been robbed or gone missing over the years, so these have had to be sourced or made as virtually everything on the car is bespoke.
I estimate a couple more months ( wallet willing ) before it might turn a wheel under its own power, so please keep your fingers crossed.
I shall be writing a full report for the Jaguar Enthusiasts magazine in due course.
Thanks again for the interest.
Peter.
