Does anyone have any decent pics of this car?
From any stage throughout its life.
It was the first car I remember watching at the first race meeting I ever went to age 8 and is very responsible for my love of all things car related and essentialy the reason I have a V12 engined jag as my current motor.
I watched that car evolve throughout its life into a piece of automotive porn and would have to say it is my single favorite car of all time.
Any info/pics/links/comments much appreciated!

Glad you like them and sorry I've not got any of the E-Type by itself. No, not Dave Eliis, they belong to Geoffrey Marsh and driving is my late Dad, Gerry Marshall.
My deepest apologies and may I say utmost respect!
What a legend.

Hamilton's car ended up with a 7.3 litre 750bhp engine in its final incarnation, much the same as the bottom pic but in stunning white and blue livery with polished alloys.
Any pics in this trim particularly appreciated.
I also remember seeing it race with no roof and an exposed rollcage, I think?
I was young at the time.
Gideon Hudson rings a bell along with Richard Chamberlain who also races an orange 935.
I just love these race cars and hope that the new series run by the AMOC brings a few more out of the woodwork. I wonder if Rob Beere's workshop will bring the E-type out of retirement? I was at Oulton when it took a pretty heavy knock at Old Hall about 7 years ago and I guess there has been no race series for it since. Someone has to have a pop at Dave Ellis' yellow peril tho!

Oversteerxj12 is right about the Hamilton E-type being very badly damaged at Oulton. I understand that the car still exists but whether a rebuild is ever likely to occur, is down to financial considerations as much as anything else.
The car does still exist and I believe it has been rebuilt, it's just living at the back of a garage collecting dust now.
No, Malcolms car has recently been sold, .... I will find out more of its whereabouts, but I understand that the buyer is not a serious racer, more of a collector with plenty of disposable!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

HELLO, I HAVE JUST GOOGLED MY CAR, ( LIKE YOU DO ) AND FOUND THIS CHAT ROOM. MY NAME IS PETER AND I OWN THE ROB BEERE / MALCOLM HAMILTON V12 RACER. YOUR CHAT FORUM SEEMS TO HAVE SEVERAL MISTAKES IN IT BOTH ABOUT ME AND THE CAR. 1. I DO NOT HAVE PLENTY OF DISPOSABLE !! FAR FROM IT.. I AM TRYING TO SELL ANOTHER CAR I HAVE IN ORDER TO FINANCE THE REBUILD. 2. NO, THE CAR WAS NOT SERIOUSLY DAMAGED AND IS EASILY REPAIRABLE. THE CAR DID SUFFER BODYWORK DAMAGE BUT NOTHING STRUCTURAL.. ONLY COSMETIC. THE CAR HAS NOT YET BEEN REBUILT AND IS MUCH AS IT WAS WHEN IT HAD ITS ACCIDENT IN 2001.
IF THIS CHAT FORUM IS INTERESTED IN THE CAR PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER.
You lucky lucky lucky man!
As I said at the start of this thread, that car is without doubt my favorite car of all time.
I would love to see as many pics as possible.
Glad to hear it isn't too badly damaged, it didn't look too bad at the time but others seem to think it was quite terminal.
So what are the chances of seeing that beast on the track again at any point?

It would be an awful shame to never see that car race again, but a bit of prespective is needed.
I have spent about £4000 in total on my current project car, an XJ12 (see jag forum if ur bothered), and to be honest that sort of expenditure has crippled me. I'm totaly flat broke, bloody skint.
I have £400 in my bank account and thats it, no savings, no huge wage coming in, just enough coming in to get by.
Its easy to say that damage is minor and get the thing on track and racing, but money does not go far with cars, especially not bent '71 e-type V12 race cars.
Big up the man who has the balls to put his money where his mouth is, scrape his savings together and buy something bonkers! I hope with all my heart to see it out on track again, but the fact it's in the hands of someone who wants to get it back to its former glory is good to know regardless.

As said before, you lucky lucky man!

Love the way this thread has gone, especially the input from those who have raced or have first hand knowledge of these monstors in the intermarque.

Peter - absolute best of luck to you with the e-type rebuild, if only I was in a position to offer sponsorship or indeed make an offer for the car! Unfortunately I swapped all my money-tree seeds for magic beans! As I said at the start of the thread, it is the one car on god's earth I would love to own bar none.

Richard - Absolutely fabulous car mate, always a joy to watch racing, and to admire the preparation that goes into your car. Looking forward to seeing it out again soon.

Slightly off topic but on similar lines, a while back I remember seeing some excellent action involving a ford V8 powered 3dr sierra cosworth silhoette of Mike Bloomfield, and a cossy engined skoda coupe silhoette driven by an older chap who's name escapes me now. Seriously rapid cars on track and spectacular to watch, although I really couldn't say how they would compare to the intermarque stuff. It may have been the banks europa challenge or something similar.
Any pics or info on those would be good to see/read.

Agh so gutted I missed this!
Had a bit of a heavy night on sat and didn't wake up till 12 on sunday! Rubbish!

Glad to see that F3 car in drag got beat, not that it isn't a great car but I don't like the idea of buying something 'off the shelf' to compete against cars with years of blood, sweat and tears poured into them. Bet it was good to see though, gutted.

Tony Sugden was indeed the owner of that skoda 130, very nice.

Ahhh brilliant, some real good pics there, just what I was after, thanks trackside!

The first one of hamiltons e-type is exactly how I first saw it when I was a wee lad.
I lived not far from the Kearns Richards Service workshop in Stockport and was overjoyed to drive past as a 8 year old and see Hamilton's car in the yard outside.
I think there was a subsidiary of KRS called Warrior automotive which, during the time they sponsored the e-type, in 1988, developed a 60valve jaguar V12 with quad cams and 5 valves per cylinder. Apparently it never ran under it's own steam and the company went bust in 1989. I wonder if there was ever talk of such an engine being destined for the e-type though:

Back to those early pics, look at the roof line on it; Funny how it started life as a fixed head coupe, then I remember seeing it with an open top and an exposed roll cage, then with a convertible style hard top.
It was the same actual car throughout wasn't it? What is left of the original car anyway?

I would love to know a bit more about the technical specs of these cars, the oily nitty gritty, although I guess only the teams themselves would be privy to most of that info.

Hello Everybody,

I've just been told about all the interest in my V12 E Type Racer which has now been sold to Peter.

It's fantastic to find that the car made such an impression on everyone duringthe 13 years Rob and I campaigned it.

It's also really great to read the comments from one of my "old" and I mean that kindly, adversaries Richard Chamberlain.

The old Intermarque days were very special to me and as Richard mentioned we all had a fantastic time in between the high speed racing.

I also enjoyed reading the comments of Gregor Marshall who is the Son of my all time Hero and Friend Gerry Marshall, Motor Sport was changed forever for me when Gerry left us. In fact my interest in returning to the Sport diminished immediately with the realisation that Gerry would no longer be around.

I would be very happy to answer any questions anyone may have, as Peter (the new owner of my car) mentioned Rob and I don't have too many written records, it's all locked away in our old heads.

As mentioned by one of your contributors some of the photos on the forum are of my old 6 cylinder car, for the record, Rob and I built the V12 in 1988 and because we figured the car was twice as good as the Bob Tullius Group 44 car racing in the US and the year was 1988 we chose 88 as the race number from then on the number on the door of the car was always the year we were racing in.

I hope that info helps with photos etc.

As I say please feel free to fire any questions at me I am always happy to wallow in the memories.

Malcolm Hamilton.

Well mate, I'm the guy who started this thread because no car has ever made such an impression on me as yours did, some of my fondest early memories were forged sat on the banks of Oulton watching that most fabulous e-type snarling it's way along the tarmac.
You were every bit the childhood hero of mine, basically when I grew up I wanted to be Malcolm Hamilton! Not Mansell or Senna or Prost, it was club-level motorsport with people mucking in driving cars they built themselves that always interested me, and the intermarque and your car especially was the very pinnacle of that.
It was your e-type that first kindled my love of jags, and hence the V12 I drive now, and I would love to know a bit more about the technical side of the engine. What are its origins in final 7.3 litre form? Was it built by Rob from an original block with longer stroke crank/re-bore, or did it come from a previous racer? Just what sort of performance was she capable of just to put into prespective for us mere mortals?

Thanks a million for posting here and for all the fantastic memories!

Thanks so much for the reply Malcolm, interesting stuff.

That looks like a great project apguy, if only I had that sort of cash!
I would seriously consider something along those lines as my next project when the xj12 is finished, I need to be racing something before I'm 30 which gives me just over 2 years.........

I am now involved in Driver Training both on and off the Circuits.

So how does one go about receiving such driver training from yourself?
Can't think of anyone I'd like more to show me the lines round Oulton, and being very keen to get into motorsport as soon as I can possibly afford, I am going to struggle without proffesional knowledge and tuition.

Great pics jeff666, I was there at Oulton in '88 when the v12 car raced roofless, I knew wasn't imagining it despite being only 8 years old at the time!

Fascinating stuff Malcolm, many thanks, keep the stories and info flowing!

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead, but it is the 50th anniversary of the e-type this year so what are the chances of seeing Malcolm's old v12 or Bernie Breeze's 6 cyl at any meetings/events/shows?

Any news or pics of progress on either of them?
