Racing Exposure - Club Racing Site
Discussion
Hi
I'm hoping to gather interest and support for a new website my brother has set up to support and provide exposure for club racing championships. From the most entry level series all the way to up to things like BTCC Support championships, rallying, sprints and hillclimbs.
Most of the coverage is in the back of Autosport and Motorsport News, with a few magazines catering for it (or specific series). Track and Racecar Magazine has recently folded, and it tended to bias itself towards club racing.
It might not work out - club racers don't tend to be THAT interested in other championships. But it could help garner support, give a place to announce championship dates, event reports or winners, and perhaps even give budding photographers a place to get their work noticed - Autosport and Motorsport News tend to have a list of photographers whose work they use, and it isn't easy to get on the list.
What this site needs is contributors from lots of series to write reports, press releases and to get them on the site. If you or your championship don't want to go to the hassle of becoming a contributor then you could also supply news to existing contributors to get them to post it.
Andrew (my brother, and the guy who has started this initiative) would be interested to hear your comments, proposals and applications to contribute, and he can be contacted via the website.
The site is http://www.racingexposure.com/blog/
There are already a number of series and championships that have signed up to help this grow, and word is spreading. I should point out that it costs nothing to have your championship on the site, so why not make use of the additional exposure.
Many thanks,
Tristan Cliffe

Many thanks (although I can't take any of the credit). It's very early days, but we've had lots of interest and lots of positive comments and submissions.
I know some people from Formula4 were a bit annoyed that all the single seater stuff was Monoposto and BRSCC F3 - but that's because the site has only been 'up' for about 10 days, and we are involved in Monoposto (and a teeny bit in BRSCC F3), so were able to write about it. F4 stuff (and TinTops and Saloons and Hatchbacks and Euroboss etc etc etc) are all welcome if we know what to write or if someone writes it themselves.

It's difficult to maintain a calender - it relies on everyone taking the time and effort to fill it up. Someone has also suggested a Trackday and Testing Diary, but again a LOT of effort for very little gain - if you want to go testing or on a trackday you tend to look them up yourself.
Maybe a simple "upcoming meetings" section, so people can see what's on at the weekend and where - much like in Autosport?

Andrew has recieved a lot of emails offering to write and submit words/photos; probably over a hundred individual applications plus follow up emails.
So it's inevitable that one or two slip through the net. Please accept my apologies and resubmit the request. Unless the championship/series is 'too professional', or not club racing in some other form, then it's highly unlikely we'd say no!!
Sorry again,
Tristan
