Hey Matt,

Firstly best of luck, I did my 1st ever competitive race a month ago & on the warm up lap, the heart was beating so fast & hard I thought it was going to jump out of my chest!! lol

I would love to pop down and give you some support and share in the experience. Am eyeing up the MR2 Championship for next season. So my advice is to win it this season as next year you'll be up against it! biggrin

What time does it all start & whats the best gate to come in at, to be close to the pits?

P.S. It'll be good to chat over a cuppa, as I've driven both the F430 & Scud biggrin
Thanks for the support, come along if you have time!

My car should look something like this..

Morning all,

This will be the second season in the MR2 Championship for me. I think me and my dad will be dropping our cars off on Saturday afternoon and then getting back to the track for early doors on Sunday (only live about 45mins from Brands)

Come and say hello, I'll be with the Rogue Motorsport guys

See you at the weekend!

.. makes what I did at paddock hill the race before look tame!

I had a great qualifying session for first time ever, was on heat 1 grid in 12th, made up to around 8th on first lap and then got too cocky trying to go around the outside too quickly into paddock hill bend..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHxl0Pq0s_w

got incar to upload of this (and I think simon the guy I was next to also has incar).

Here you go, to save everyone watching me lap slowly, 2.10 onwards shows you nose in front and then off. Camera position is a bit cr*p and I should have really had cam 2 on the rear but will be sorted for Snetterton

Excellent Footage Simon!! bow
One question for all drivers, I am no where near a good driver and am now confused about heel-toe. It seems that your foot was always on the clutch when you were using your heal to blip the throttle, I just wondered what that does as the clutch is in? Probably a very dumb question.

I've always loved the MR2 championship having previously owned one of each Mk (my wife has a Mk3 now) and I've always thought, one day I'll race in this series, but now, I'm not so sure.

Frightening footage, glad everyone was OK and to get bacok OT, I'm glad it looks like the OP had a great first weekend, even if he did spin, it still looks great fun.

Best of luck to all of you for the rest of the season, maybe I'll try and get to a race this year.
Its certainly not the "norm" so don't let it put you off. Let me know if you decide to come to one and ill give you some tickets wink

No to thruxton I believe brands and silverstone are your locals.

Others this year are Donington (twice), Snetterton, Pembrey, Mallory, Silverstone

Matt UH how you getting on in the MR2 Championship?
really well!

Since brands we hit Snetterton next.

Out of 45 odd cars I qualified ~ 25th.

Heat 1 I got up from 25th to 21st and then Race 1 I got up from 21st to 16th.

Heat 2 I got up from 25th to 22nd and then in Race 2 I got up from 22nd to 16th again.

I was very happy to get 16th on my second ever race.

2 Days ago it was Mallory Park, VERY wet and I was not used to this, nor was the car setup particularly well, my tyres were very warn and I Had not scrubbed in my new set so did not use those which would have been better with a lot more tread. Either way I went out in qualifying and got stuck in... Here is the video of qualifying including a little visit into the barrier...

Still editting my race videos but there was some very close racing considering visibility was so bad! I think I finished around 20th.

Still very much getting used to the car and need some testing time, hoping to get a test day at Donnington next week as we visit Donnington for our next race in 3 weeks from now!
