At Autosport on Friday I got talking to the boss of Bosch Motorsport.
You guys will probably blow me out of the water for suggesting this being the purists that you are but here it is.
They have developed and just released a Motorsport ABS system that is designed to work in and be retrofitted to race cars of all types. It is a multichannel system with separate front and rear circuits like most race cars and includes yaw sensing etc. It is fully programable and adjustable in use and of course can be switched off. It is also supplied with backup from Bosch technicians to calibrate etc.
I was quite interested until he told me the price @5k!!!!!
He did intimate that getting it installed in multiple cars could help with the price.
This product is made by Bosch so I am sure it will be good.
I am interested because I like Gadgets but also because I like stuff that makes me safer.
Anyone interested?
P.S. who saw my time on the proper Formula 1 simulator just near to the Pirelli stand!

yes their stuff is pricy ! The question if their traction control can work with other ECUs, if not you should have a look at their ECU pricing that will finally make you cry

Sounds interesting, but I don't think I would pay £5k.

Yes I am interested. Great if they could include TC as an add on.

Racelogic make a traction control system which is retrofitable to most fuel injected cars. I am also looking at that system @£1000 depending on what bits you need It is fitted to a number of supercars and also seems to work very well. It does require a sensor to be fitted to each wheel as of course does the abs system. it is possible to share the sensors.

why?

ive got abs on my normal road car wht put it on my Ultima, i enjoy the back to basics of the GTR and adding all this so called safety equipment blunts its appeal.... i might as well buy a Porsche or BMW. Thanks but no thanks.

As stated.............he likes gizmo's.........I like a bit of creature comfort so wont sit on a GRP deck chair with minimal padding/coverings...............each to their own in the world of kit cars!

Are there any IVA implications? It looks like the ABS maps are switchable, and I was wondering if this might fall foul of the same regs as adjustable brake bias.

Exact reason i bought a GTR instead of the 996 turbo i was going to buy...Yep I might drive the porker faster with all the driving aids, but would be as fun??

Only whilst wearing driving slippers Capt C !!!.............new boots on their way.......fly-by-wires beware!

Bosch make some great gear but in most instances you will pay a premium.....excepting of course their excellent fuel pumps which are very reasonable money!!

Gentlemen
I know that some of you are such skilled drivers as to not need such safety aids as traction control and abs even if they can be switched off for when you want to have some fun TEE HEE But:
I am getting some designs done for trigger wheels to fit inside the brake discs. Setup costs are high so numbers = cheaper items.
If you are interested PM me. If not then vent your criticism at will.

Mark,

If I were you, I would be looking to attach the trigger wheels to the driveshafts.

Have a look here http://trigger-wheels.com/store/index1.html

There must be something there that could be used.

It is trigger wheels that I am working with.
Trouble is ABS trigger wheel needs min of 42 teeth to work properly apparently.
Also I need to do fronts as well.
The brake discs are the same front and rear so I believe that I can get 4 made with one set up charge.
I am getting other interest from here so price may go down.

What are you going to drive with this trigger info?

The trigger info is to feed into the Bosch Ecu for the ABS to enable it to know when a wheel is locked or locking.
