This right here. No access to the Facebook group, no access to the factory build manual. I was ready to place a deposit on an RS for a month and just trying to scrape together what I could about how to assemble the second most expensive thing I've ever bought from YouTube videos and 10 year old posts on PH about GTRs. Kind of a shame. Not sure why it all has to be a secret.
I was in a similar situation before I ordered. Hindsight being 20/20 I think it's probably for a lot of reasons but one being it's a good way to filter out the potential builders who probably shouldn't. If you don't have a good feel for for what's going to be involved just by looking at the pictures and visiting YouTube, looking at the instructions probably isn't going to help. I'm a due diligence guy (especially with the dollar amounts involved here) and at a certain point I just had to say 'none of this looks that hard and if I have a problem I'll get some help'. Got my car in July of last year, July of this year it was on the ground and running and I didn't need any help beyond occasional advice from the factory. My only regret is that I waited so long to get off the fence.

But again I totally get where you're coming from, outside looking in being kept out of the club is irritating but once you're in the club it's kinda nice having the internet armchair warriors kept at bay.

Zero regrets on the Ultima. The company is everything you heard it is, the car is everything you think it is and building it was one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

I have been debating whether to buy or build, and wanted to see if there were any owners/builders near me in Cambs that i could visit for a chat.
I don’t have a full build budget yet, but given a year wait list and sometime to get started, there’s time to sort that, but it’s a big investment as you say.

Being able to see some of the colours in the flesh would be useful too, as i am not sure if they would all be seen on a factory visit? So was hoping to find out about any meets. Stuff that’s difficult from the outside.

Problem for us current non owners looking to get into ownership, is that we cannot join the FB group, so this is our only resource for research etc.

The problem with opening up the FB group is the amount of typical FB wkers you really don’t want in a small group of owners. The downside of course by making it private is a few potential owners are put off.

It’s a shame the PH forum has died a death but it is what it is.

All I can say is if you’re serious it’s worth persevering through this gap and if you have any questions they will get answered here still, albeit a little slowly.

Thanks deadscoob, and yes, FB is full of the type of people you mention, and i understand completely.
I am involved in other owners clubs, and while old school forums are mostly in decline due to FB, they were much easier to have public and private areas so you could cater for both.

I will persevere here though, don’t worry wink
Once house sale issues are resolved, i will know my direction!

Will be sorting factory visit once i am back from hols.
