How to lock the doors?

Strange question I know but as I'm coming to the end of the build (waiting for the engine) I thought I'd lock the car.

Sadly the doors won't lock?!?

The doors latch etc. but the key will not turn enough to lock them.

Any pointers appreciated.

Sounds like adjustments are needed to the mechanism. Can't help any further as I installed central locking from the alarm fob and my key locks are not operative.

I found I needed to tweak the orientation of the door locks a little to get them to lock and unlock cleanly. It was nothing more than elongating a couple of the holes by a few mm. Because of the angles involved compared with the donor car (FIAT of some sort I guess) the locks are quite stiff and fickle. Once it was sorted the locks have been great though even with an extra bellcrank and central locking motor to pull.

Well I've had to attack the locks again as the only job outstanding now is teh headlight alignment.

Now, I managed to get the door lock system to lock using the key only if the lock itself was loose in the door. If I clamped in place using the gold collar I couldn't lock or unlock the door.

Any more tips welcome.

I had this and guessed the locks were twisting slightly when I tightened them against the door. I put some washers between the door and the lock on all three bolts and they work fine now. I stuck the washers to the lock with clear silicone after dropping them countless times.

Just found this posting, I have the same problem, and wondered if you found an easy solution?

Having had a closer look it looks like the white arm is about 10mm to short! the latch work's without the arm off and so does the lock but when the arm is on the key will not turn far enough to remove it.

Any thought's!

Hi Rich,

I managed to get them to work, only if I remove the click holding the lock in place?!?

Which means there's only about 5-10mm of difference?

Hi Rich,

Not sure if you've fixed your locks yet but a source on here gave me a tip (and maybe you to).

This involved removing the bolt from under the screww head. Well this made it better but it wasn't quite there. Then I noticed I had two washers under the screw, one fat and one thin.

I removed the fat washer from each side and Wahoo!! The doors now lock.
