I think I have a feature on it but can't remember what the publication is scratchchin It was very impressive and a pleasant departure from the norm.

Stig,... how about making this sticky - somewhere to point people when they ask that age old question.

Damn, no wonder they crushed the test mules...

Looks like the intake intrudes into the cabin... might give you a crick in the neck!

I like the way the rear exhaust unit has been setup, I wonder if a setup like this might cure our problems with on track noise limits...

^ Although the main reason for the Mahoosive rear silencer was to absorb energy in the event of an accident, you can't help thinking that this kind of approach would make the zorst a fair bit more quite. In '95 a pal of mine won CCC Converted Car of the year @ Castle Coombe and was required to take part in a photo shoot at a military test track in Chobam, Surrey. I went along with him and on the day Maclaren were there ( from their neighbouring home town of Woking ) with a customer giving driver training in an F1. Needless to say my pal an I were all over the thing like a rash and I do remember commenting on the somewhat subdued note of the exhaust although once on the move you could certainly hear it.

I forgot to say that seeing a Maclaren in the flesh and on the move really is something special.

Can someone tell me which BMW V8 engine that is in the first few pictures, also the gearbox adapter looks a piece of work, is that a one off or are they available from somewhere.

Cheers

The motor in the first pictures is either an M60 or 62/4.0 and 4.4 ltr respectively and I would think that the adapter is custom made.

I just trawled through old emails.

The top car is running an M62 from a 98 740i

The chassis modifications, transaxle adaptor, and modifications to flywheel were all carried out by the factory!!!.... I think this must have been some time ago.... there's no way you;d get them to do that for you now

Exhaust was made elsewhere.

Thanks, I have access to an alleged G50 to BMW Engine adapter, not as industrial as the one in the pictures, but hadnt really seen anyone using the engine, I want to stick with a V8 for my project been looking at the 4.6 lump.

Is their a build thread for that car anywhere?

Cheers

Joe
