I have an Accel HEI dizzy on my car and have been having some problems with it. It started out as hesitation at very high speed (whilst having fun with an R1)over 125mph.

Then it would run fine until it rev'd past 3,500rpm and would start hesitation again for about 10-15 secs, even if you changed up a gear and brought the revs down.

Then on Friday I had to have the car recovered .... total loss of power and cutting out. Then it would restart and run ok at low revs for 5-10 mins then play up again.

RAC patrol said coil, maybe amplifier. Now i know the HEI is known for weak sparks above 5k but this was total.

I'm looking to put an MSD system on that works with the HEI set up and cures all its know problems.

But, before I splash out on this .... what else could it be, any ideas?

Paul.

Err- perhaps chemical metal!

After the problems I have had in the past 10 days yours sounds almost easy. Good luck and try another coil. You should also try a spark gap tester available from most motor factors and costs nothing. Cafco (around London) will test the coil for free.

After about £160.00 spent with Real Steel on a new MSD coil and module (both high performance for the HEI system) I am glad to report one red Ultima back in very rude health. (fingers tightly crossed)

That little blat along a 'test track' not to far away confirms that statement ...... Le Mans, here we come.

Try stick-0-flexing that engine & gearbox combo together! It might be ready for Wednesday then!

Only trying to help!
