An alternative, if you have the space, is to get a s/h electric car lift from a garage like I did.

Mine is 3ph electricity but you could convert it and is rated at 3 tonnes and lifts so you can walk under the vehicle. I can have all 4 wheels off on chassis supports or have clear access to centre of car on the wheels. Drive on and pull a lever and up she goes to what ever height you need. It makes life so much easier for an old git like me.

Cost me £500 delivered.

You can run a three phase motor from a single phase supply anyway, it makes a lot of ex garage equipment more desirsable for those in the know.

Preped my floor with a 6" dropped section to lower it into. But with only a few planks you can put it on a Flat garage floor....

Hi Tony

I have 3ph but I would be interested to know how you convert and what sort of cost is involved just for future reference.

If your converting just a Motor then a VFD is cheapest. But if you want more than one thing powered then search for a Rotory phase converter... Ebay will have both...

And on e-bay item no 170465655412

Just waiting for planning permission for my new workshop. It's 7.75m x 11.5m with the same area upstairs! Going to set one of these in the ground so that it is level with the floor smile This is why it's taking over 5 years to build my car!!!

Nearly finished though...

There's LOADS of suppliers of these things in China. Sites like this are full of middle men, creaming a bit off the top. I have staff stationed full time in China doing QA for my company, so I can send someone to check.

Hang fire and I'll get my purchasing girls to get some prices for 10pcs. They'd have to be delivered to one place and you guys work it out from there. Which port should I specify?

Hiya Clive,

No, it won't fit next to my house, so I had to buy another place smile !! Trouble is that it's an 1850 Coach House that needs completely renovating, so it's taking up all my garage building / Ultima time!

Hows your monster garage / hanger? Is it all finished now? Hows the project progressing?

Keep in touch mate,

Mart

Don't really mind. If there is enought interest I would pickup spend a day or twos holiday piloting a rental truck around England dropping off units (as long as the costs are covered of course)...

We've spoken to 3 companies, they quoted USD700, 700 and 740, FOB China.

Shipping cost of loose cargo China to UK is USD500 (for 10 pcs)

Alternatively - A 20ft container from Shanghai to Portsmouth is USD2000....Most of these companies do all sorts of tools.... so the other option is that we find one company that can do a wide range of tools, then you guys pick out all the bits and pieces you want and send a whole container of stuff over.

Willy and Bernard (from Singapore) did this when they built their GTR.

I can co-ordinate this end if someone wants to do that end.

Spatz really helped me out on sorting the shipping for the S5 engine from Germany.... so this could be my "pay it forward" deposit in my kharmic bank acount.
