They are quite well suited for classical and acoustic music, but they fall short on more bass driven music. It depends on the bass required for each and everyone as well, some prefer detail and clarity, others want a nightclub in their ears wink

Finlandia, any thoughts on these? Samsung Pleomax PEP-950 Ultimate In-Ear Earphones. Seem them for sale as a duo pack for 15 notes - not sure if they are a good buy or not.

Sorry, never heard of them. Can't see them being all that good, but for the price they may sound ok.

Thanks, I'll probably give them a miss then. I need some in ear canal ones (preferably) for gym use and as I tend to sweat somewhat, they'll need to be resistant to that! I know 7DS have CX-300 for just under £14 inc del and they are my best bet so far unless you can recommend something else sub £30.

No IEM's are sweat proof to a 100%, I would recommend to go as cheap as possible while still retaining a good sound and good isolation. CX300 are ok (too bassy and bloated, horrible cable). Fischer Audio A'leph, Meelectronics M9 or Hippo Pearl, or maybe stretch a couple £'s higher and go for the Hippo Shroom.

Any ideas as to where in the UK I can get the Fischer or Meelectronics from? I've googled but it hasn't brought up much.

They are difficult to find other than online, Meelectronics have their own online shop, and I believe Fischer Audio will open their online shop in February.

Hi Finlandia

I have been offered some Ultimate Ears superfi 4, for around £40. Are these any good? Many use for listening while on train...

Not heard the UE Superfi4 myself, but from what I understand they are not all that good, mind you they are not bad either, but for the price there are better. Soundmagic PL50 or Hippo Shroom are detailed and offer good isolation, and about the same price.

Received them this morning, they don't sound that much better than my normal Apple standard issue.. Should I run them in first, before writing them off...?

They use a single balanced armature, so they are not likely change their overall sound in a dramatic way.

I'm looking for a pair of headphones for use with my iPhone and Sansa Clip (which I use in the gym).

I bought a pair of Sennheiser CX400-II's and although the sound is lovely, I just cannot get on with these in-ear bud types. I even tried some Shure SE102's and had the same problem. frown

So, any recommendations for the in ear types that look like this..?

TIA smile

I don't get along with the earbud style myself, but the Yuin PK3 are really good for $39. The problem will be that they do not isolate any background noise, as the ones you have tried.

Googling had brought me to Sennheiser MX760s, but I'll check these out, thanks. smile

I appreciate they don't isolate the sound, but give the in-ear type spend more time falling out...

The SE110 and SE210 offer quite good clarity and detail, but lack severly in bass response, the SE115 are the opposite.
I have a set of SE210s, and I wouldn't say they lack bass as such. I tend to listen to a lot of classical music and find that headphones with tons of bass sound unnatural. What I did find was getting the fit right makes a huge difference to the sound.
I'd say similar for my SE110s. I've used them almost daily for a good 6 months now and have grown to really enjoy the sound they put out. Very, very clear across all ranges IMO and not lacking in bass either. You get to hear everything without it being artificially lead by the lower frequencies.

I am tempted to try something new though. Will go back and read the newer reviews.

Interesting, but I venture that it would be worth putting a similar priced comparison in the summing up of each earphone
ALl your headphones in a similar price bracket seem to be summed up in an identical way thus the reader is non the wiser as to what to spend thier £100 on

The deciding factor when buying new earphones is to know what sort of sound signature you want, bassy, neutral or detailed.

What I have noticed is that during my reviews, new and cheaper models are becoming better and better and gaining fast on the top tier competition, which makes a favourite pick that much more difficult as well.

But for now, my overall favourites are as follows.

(Has now been updated and moved to the first post)

In the £100/$160 range, Audio Technica CK10 rules, they are in fact one of the best IEM's of any price, and with a bit of luck they can be had for £100.

Finlandia I need your sujestion, I have PL30 but I find the bass is less for my liking , I want to buy something under $30 with more bass but with similar sound quality, am looking at M9 and FA Alep which do u think is good, also is there any other IEM u recommend for under 30 bucks ?
