Got a new panny and I've been running it on low light settings since I took it out of the box however someone said you no longer need to do this with the new ones, is this correct?
I would definitely do this - no ifs, buts, or maybes. Head over AV Forums to see some horror stories still taking place. HTH.It usually depends if your going to watch it with your eyes or spend a few k on light meters and compare your numbers to someone else's numbers. Personally I turned on all 3 of mine and watched them, 6 years down the line they all seem to still work by that I mean they still have a watchable pic with no screen burn or image retention.
The official word from the manufacturers is they dont need running in, our installers have never been advised to recommend it to customers.

OP, do you think that it's a risk worth taking?
The people who say "don't worry about it", feel that just because it hasn't happened to the particular TV that they own, it doesn't happen at all.

A couple of weeks ago I brought a new GT30 Panasonic TV.
Took it out of the box and just watched it and no problems so far.
I am a member or AV forums and the problem is they can sometimes list problems and faults that unless your clued up on all the technical knowledge you will never notice anything.

I don't buy into this burn in bks.
Simple reason being you'd see it all over display sets in the shops!
A least one would have a logo or something burnt into it if it truly was a problem worth worrying about.
I think the safest thing you can do is to follow the manufacturers instructions.
