Region free Blu Ray....
Discussion
I quite fancy a bluray player, but the sticking point is my DVD collection includes a number of Region 1 discs...my old DVD player is a modded Panasonic that has given me years of excellent service. The TV is a Panasonic plasma, hence the brand "loyalty".
So, after much Googling i'm looking at this...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome

If you buy a blu ray player, you have two region locks. One on the DVD player and one on the blu ray player. If you don't have a lot of non-UK blu rays, you can get away with a blu ray player that has been tweaked so that it is multi region for DVDs but region locked for blu ray. Possibly cheaper than full unlocking.

thanks, not interested in DVDs though. I want to play region 1 blu rays.
In that case it is as easy as buying the bluray player in the OP's link. (This is a lot easier than it used to be. Back in the day, it wasn't possible to make a bluray player multiregional. Mugs like me therefore ended up with a US bluray player with a transformer alongside a UK bluray player. Oh the joys of being an early adopter...)
