AV Amps, iMac and Spotify - help!!!!!

I'm looking to get a new AV amp for my new home for music and sending the FreeSat signal to the TV. I was going to go for the Denon AVR1912 and use the AirPlay feature to stream from iTunes on my iMac.
I've now realised I'd have a much better music library by using Spotify (which I believe is better quality to Napster?)
The Onkyo TX-NR609 comes with Spotify support built in which means I can connect with Ethernet to my Cat 5 network and stream straight to the receiver I believe.
If I wanted to run the same thing on the Denon could I still connect directly using Ethernet to Spotify or would I have to stream it to Spotify on my iMac first and then to the amp?
It seems that the Denon solution means I need to keep my iMac switched on all the time. Or am I missing something here?
