Anyone got a Bang & Olufsen Beosound Theatre soundbar?

The first thing to say is that I know how much it costs, I'm not after opinions on value.

I'm interested in how you think it sounds. Do you use other B&O speakers as surrounds? If so which ones? Do you use it with or without a subwoffer?

It's massively expensive and I'm kind of concerned that it might still need a subwoffer to give me the impact I'm expecting at the price.

I’m going to use a pair of Beolab 8’s as rear channels.

You can always add a sub at a later date.
A Beolab 19 is another £3.5K and I’m already pushing my luck with the other half in terms of the budget. I’m thinking if I need a sub I might buy a second hand Beolab 2 for about £700 and hide it away because it’s not as sexy as the theatre and 8’s.

The room is 5m X 5m and two of the walls are 600mm thick stone which should help with the lower frequencies.

When we move in and have it installed I’ll report back.

I looking forward to having a Beosound Balance in the kitchen. The Theatre and 8’s will only get used after dinner but the balance will be on most of the day.

It was all installed yesterday, I haven't had a chance to listen to it much yet but first impressions tell me I probably don't need a sub (wanting one is a whole different thing). It makes the doors on the cabinets rattle as it is so it's not lacking too much but I'm under no illusion that it can deliver the full LFE channel of an action movie, sounds great though.

Integration with the TV and stand is seamless and the user experience via the BeoRemote One or the app is second to none. Having only Deezer as a connected streaming service is a bit pants though. I use Spotify and it doesn't have Spotify Connect so I have to AirPlay if I want to use Spotify. I can use the Spotify App on the TV but it seems wasteful to have the TV on just to stream music to the speakers.

The ceiling mounts for the Lab 8's are not available yet so they are on table stands on an old computer desk until the ceiling mounts arrive. I have the 8's set up as a seperate speaker pair so I can use them on their own or with beolink to the Ballance in the other room. I'm suprised how good the 8's sound. I think the relatively low to the ground location of the Theatre doesn't do it any favours when it comes to music.

It's a 55' Beovision Theatre on a motorised floor stand and pair of Beolab 8's as rear surrounds. All in black anthracite with grey melange covers, I might switch to wood covers after the floors and beams have been sanded and refinished so I can choose a good match for the floors.
