TVR Chatsworth Gathering 2013 details

That raises a question for a first timer.
Is it a case of arrive early morning, park where told, abandon car and only be allowed to collect it at the end of the day.....
OR
Arrive and park up, and when someone asks nicely jump in, start him up, and go for a spin? Mine will have been washed and rinsed, so will need a spin.......

We all started with a dream, I was one of the lucky ones, as I never thought I'd own anything like what I've had or got.
Hope your dream comes true soon, and don't ever think you will never get one, nobody knows what the future will bring.
First time I went last year what a baptism of fire or as it was wind and rain didn't expect to see any cars there ,so was well chuffed to see so many. Yet again won't be turning up in the cerbera (Dave the trimmers this year willow sports cars last year) but will be there so put me down for a bacon butty Hope your dream comes true soon, and don't ever think you will never get one, nobody knows what the future will bring.
Ps would be good to put ph/tvcc user names some where on car so we know who to look for

Had a quick squint at your profile - your Citroen is a VTR - that will get you in if the marshalls are dyslexic
If they'll mistake a clattery diesel for a TVR, it's for sale at just less than the price of a Tuscan S...

Thanks (once again) for the encouragement. - I love the fact that most TVR owners are down to earth and will give you the time of day when you comment on their car. I know you probably get fed-up with those that make ignorant comments, bang on about MPG etc., but it's nice to see that not every non-owner is tarred with the same brush.
There's a TVR Chimaera owner presently doing an LPG conversion........ clicky
The rest of us didn't buy it to protect the environment, we bought it to be 18 again now we can afford the relevant hardware and some decent posing shades.
With MPG in mind I am in the middle of a 4 litre to 5 litre upgrade right now.
No clue what it will do to the MPG, never thought to ask.......

What I meant was that I'm one of the people who won't immediately say "Ooooh, I bet that's thirsty!","What do you get to the gallon?", "How much is the tax on that?"...or other such questions (it's a TVR, not a Kia ). - More "What should I look out for?", "How much do I have to budget for servicing / maintenance?" and "Does anyone want a kidney?". And I was agreeing with you, you clearly aren't one of those who can think of nothing better to say.Fortunately most people, when they see the cars, simply go "WOW", and "errrr, any chance of a ride?"

I wouldn't want to be too cheeky! I was kindly allowed to sit in someone's Tuscan S Mk1 (my dream car) a couple of years ago and am glad to report it seemed to have been built around someone my size and shape. You know that feeling you get when something "just feels right"? I've had a passenger ride in a Chimaera 4.0-litre (intoxicating - a wonderful revelation after sterile modern boxes) and have sat in a few Tuscans (British Motorshow), but have never had a ride in a Speed Six car. I'm just hoping it's not a classic case of "don't drive your heroes"...though from what I've heard / read they're "silly grin" material.
Just the opposite, when you get to drive them the power, the style, the noise, and, almost more than anything else, the Great British public's love of them, makes them so much more than you imagined.
I had the pleasure of 15 laps as a passenger in a Mark 1 Tuscan last weekend in the wet, with a good driver. It was awesome, specially as his motto was " if it's sliding, boot it harder".
The Speed Sixes are very different to the V8s, so drive both before you buy, and also decide whether you want roof on or roof off. Both have a lot of power, but The Speed Six has it higher up the rev range and with floor mounted pedals. The Rover V8 would seem to have less BHP, but has it all the way from 1500 rpm to 6000 rpm, so in normal road use can feel quicke and more flexible. I have no problem keeping up with speed sixes with 100 BP more than my Chimarra. The AJP V8 in the Cerbera is mental!
The v8 rumble comes with the V8. The Speed Six sounds to some v8 owners to be more like a dentist's drill in a bag of granite chippings

Having only had my (very early) mk1 Tuscan about 10 months and ran it for only around 3 of those months, I'm still pretty new to the game and have never been to any of these meetings. I really want to come & be part of it, but as I bought my car as what can only be described as 'a bit of a wreck' having been severely mistreated nearly all of its life, & as I earn a very average wage at best, it's very much a long term project. I am doing the best I can with what I've got, but up close its still a bit rough! I'm miles away from being able to afford a re spray, & having just had the clutch replaced I have nothing left to do anything else with it.
My worry is everyone is going to turn up in showroom condition cars & then I turn up in the ugly duckling & be mocked & scorned like a fat kid eating pie in the dinner hall!
I know I know I shouldn't worry about what people think & all that as I know I can at least say that I own a TVR (which makes me smile every time & sometimes want to pinch myself to make sure it's real!) but I still do.
Does any of this matter, or am I talking drivel & just shut up & join in the fun?!

I will be coming off three track days in the previous ten days, so I will be starting a charity "guess the number of stone chips" competition.......
Seriously, you will make a load of new friends and offers of help and advice with your restoration. Come along and join in the fun.

I have been four times now. - I don't even own a TVR and I'm made to feel welcome. - In fact, meeting the right people would no doubt give you some worthwhile information, tips etc. on how to get your car back to the condition you'd like it to be in and who the best people are to go and see! My worry is everyone is going to turn up in showroom condition cars & then I turn up in the ugly duckling & be mocked & scorned like a fat kid eating pie in the dinner hall!

If you think your Tuscan is rough you should see my Cerb - at least yours is supposed to be two different colours, unlike mine which looks like it's been painted by a five year old. Park next to mine and yours will look like a garage queen. See you there come rain or shine, although hopefully the latter this year.My worry is everyone is going to turn up in showroom condition cars

Are you talking drivel, YES
Shut up and join in, YES
Restoring, recovering, saving a TVR will never get you booo'd out of the house, quite the opposite. IMO i think you would be welcomed as a hero, offered guidance, advice and a pat on the back.

I had that feeling from my passenger ride in the same model Chim as yours. The words "brutal" and "sensory overload" come to mind. QBee said:

To tell the truth, I don't know what I prefer: monstrous torque or electrifying power...oh to have that dilemma! Oh...and I know full well what they sound like: A couple of years ago, I was sitting on the bridge at Chatsworth "marking" the cars out of ten for sound. I just need some scorecards!
