Apparently being done by David Yates, who was behind Harry Potter...

Just another excuse for weak jibe at the beeb, cryptic titles are patheticIf they do remake the Doctor I hope they get a decent writer. The bloke writing the new lot is ste.
It has to have daleks and be in the mould of the two previous films.

Well, if it is done in a decent way, it could be a 'reboot' akin to Batman or Star Trek? Make it darker, and a bit more serious?
That's exactly what they need to do. A perfect model is BSG.The only serious thing about the current one was Tim Dalton...he was worth the money.

Can't agree. The film should strive to widen the appeal of Dr Who not narrow it down and whilst 'dark' appeals to the fan-base (inc me) we don't want something that requires either fore-knowledge of the whoniverse or a for the veiwer to be of a certain age in order to 'get it'. It needs a fast paced family thrill ride with a seriously scary new concept.'Blink' would be an example of the way I'd like to see it handled.
Whatever they choose to do, they need to keep the core concept of a 'nutter' running around time & space trying to help out but in a very British way. No bloody cheesy super-slick hollywood hero type.
I've seen all the suggestions on the interweb of who could play the role and all the usual supects are there: Depp, Cumberbatch even Idris Elba as the first black Dr Who. One things for sure, whoever gets the roll will undoubtedly be compared to David Tennant, Matt Smith and even Chris Eccelston so needs to grab hold of the character right from the off.
