Finally John's turn to win an episode last night then! Another good show I thought?
He won episode 3, this is his 2nd win. Sarah's won 2, Dara 1.
I was surprised by the series score. That 30 pt win by Dara on episode 2 will turn out to be the significant turning moment of the series. Though to be fair all the other episodes he's been there or thereabouts, no shockers so far.

Al least it's not as unfair as Katherine Ryan's 15 series points on a single live task.

Poor old Dara, going to be hounded by calls of "Wait, what?"

Loved the interchange between Dara and Munya at the end. Been very little pointing out or ribbing others for their mistakes or little cheats so far. Dara ribbing Munya over the ball came back to bite him on the arse though.

Loved the podcast comment from a previous week, Sara and Dara are the parents sitting in the front seats of the car while the three kids in the back are buggering around, fighting and spilling crisps and pop everywhere.

The lab clearly decidedly funky after the milk task.

And did you notice the look Dara gave John when he joined the team task? "Oh no, it's you FFS!"

I really wasn't sure when they announced the contestants, not a big fan or Sarah Millican and only really knew her and Dara.

Along with last series, I think this is probably one of the best lineups for a while.
I’d agree.

Only thing I have noticed is that there is not much comradery between this group, they don’t interact with each other in the studio like previous series have.

I get the impression they won’t be in contact together socially like some of the previous groups after the experience.
It seems that a lot of damage to the bonding was done between the team if three with the sabotage task set for John. Clearly detect antipathy especially between Dara and him, and a certain "Oh no!" It's John from Fern. But the banter to and fro has got better in the last episode, eg identifying your hand and the look for your Dad's hands banner arising from John's utterly barking comments.

Mind you they were brassed off about that rigged Henry Hoover. rofl

Personally I think it's funny that Dara is going absolutely all out for the win, most competitive contestant ever seen, yet Sara "The Assassin" Millican is only one point behind with her Lisa Tarbuck-esque approach of "I'll just do the task as efficiently as possible whilst looking as if I don't give a stuff about it."

Assassin for the win.

John K got a raw deal on the prize task. The only thing Greg underestimated there was the weight of £1000 worth of pennies. Like to see the fat git carry that lot home in a wheel barrow.

Well, no. Pushing the barrow is easier than carrying, but I understand your point.
John has been monumentally st with the first task though, in every episode, IIRC.
Well yes, but no, but yes, but no. To put it in perspective.

Weight of 1 pence coin 3.56 gms.
£1000 in 1p coins weighs 3.56 * 100 * 1000 = 356,000 gms or 356 kgs.

As above, like to see Greg push a wheel barrow with over a third of a tonne in it.

Goodbye series 14, you were a good one. My personal winners are Fern Brady and John Kearns.
Second every word of that. Worryingly the first sentence too. That would make the Horne Section look amazing by comparison. Am I going to end up in hell?

I can't believe you worked it out!
Well it's not exactly a difficult calculation, and knowing roughly what a penny weighs did it in my head during the broadcast. Was willing John to use that as a comeback and argue his case. Maybe he did and it was edited out. Can't believe Greg's ego, as big as it is, would allow that comedy opportunity to slip by.

In Horne's shoes I'd have had a wheel barrow with the grand's worth of 1p coins in it and challenged the bugger to shift it.

Maybe now clear why used the word underestimated from the task title. Shrug.

How the fk does fern Brady's mind work ?

Pick 3 items :

She's been open about her autism diagnosis. It works ar right angles to the rest of the world...
It's interesting if you take some of the self diagnosis tests. As a family we've lightly joked in the past that we're all on the spectrum somewhere. Which probably applies much more widely than thought.

Q1. Do you have a particular method or routine used when putting on your socks? Me? No, low score for autism.
Q2. Do you have favourite cutlery? Me? Yes definitely. High score for autism apparently, and so on.
Q3. From q2, small spoons or big spoons? Me? Small. Again high score.

Examples from memory.

On the other hand it's been said that sometimes those who have been diagnosed use that as an excuse when they simply are being rude aholes. Looks carefully at self in mirror as I know I can be such, very mood dependent.

He was actually born in Derby. smile
Got the impression from the TM podcast of Sara Millican that they did't like Munya so much. She got quite animated about all her anecdotes were true, but most of his were made up ballocks.

Kind of agree with the above, definitely with Jo Brand as she's the biggest fun sponge of a comedian I've ever known, just irritating!

Baddiel wasn't that bad, he just seemed utterly incompetent like he had no idea why he was there or what he was supposed to be doing. I suspect he'd never seen and not even bothered to research the show.

I thought the NY special was OK, there's a reason they use comedians though and it does show in these specials that just lack that bit of extra which makes the show work.
The none comedians who really throw themselves into it on the specials are the stars, eg Shirley Ballas.

This special left me a bit cold tbh, you just don't get the time to get to know and love, or of course hate.

Agreed, take a look back to seasons 4,5 and 6, how it's fallen. Surprisingly my favourite is Frankie, my pre series favourite of Kiell has not disappointed either to be fair.

Even bearing in mind I'd had a busy day and it was late fell asleep early. Woke up short time later, rewound to last point remembered, gave it 10 minutes, switched off, went to bed. Description of 'below par' is doing it a favour. Even Greg's introductions are just bizarre beyond reason.

Once in bed watched a full episode of Manhunt on ITV X before shutting down and off to sleep so not *that* tired.

Sorry Alex, Greg and contestants, v poor.

I'd watched a repeat from series 8 earlier on (Iain Stirling, Joe Thomas, Lou Sanders, Paul Sinha and Sian Gibson) and found that one more entertaining even though it's probably the 5th time I've watched it.
Thursday nights episode actually had the same controversial tactic used in a task that Lou Sanders used in a task in that series. Mae Martin for the bouncy ball drum task, put the bouncy ball on string which is the same as what Lou did during a task she did where she had to bounce a ball as many times as possible before it lands in a bucket/bin.

During the show Frankie was adamant it wasn't legit and having listened to half of the podcast he's clearly not changed his opinion.

.... and yeah, I watch too much of this programme.
I tend to think that some of Greg's controversial decisions are simply to create more contentious content to spice it up. It's unfortunate if he picks you as the recurring "and of course one point goes to..." contestant. Kiell gets that simply because of his reaction to the odd decisions. Yet it adds to the humour I guess.

I agree with Frankie btw.

That double points in the studio task was outrageous imo. Almost the equivalent of the shambles in season 2 where on one studio task where the task score to determine who won the task was converted straight into series points which effectively handed the series win to Katherine Ryan. Maybe they know something that will pan out differently as the series proceeds but that appears to have screwed Frankie and Ivo.

Also agree Ivo robbed on the faking it task where he produced a mummy.

It took us 7 attempts to get through the last episode without falling asleep, though it was a late night watch.

Agree Frankie is the best of the bunch even though don't particularly like his comedy. Warming to Ivo, though think Kiell is playing his angry contestant role well.

When I originally saw Jenny Eclair in the line up was convinced she would be the annoying one, nope Mae Martin, supremely irritating. Approaching Rosie Jones level of annoyance for different reasons obviously.
