^^^ Looks like Burt Reynolds!

Binged watched the seconds series. I think they covered too much in the first series and could have stretched it out. I knew beforehand that the catedral was the beginning of the end. It's not massively accurate but a very good watch. Said before but you really have watch it with the subtitles.

I just googled for the real Pena. (Not Burt biggrin )

It's a bit like the real Steve Murphy vs Boyd Holbrook

The casting people got it pretty right.

Recently replaced our ageing TV with a 4K UHD one and today I upgraded Netflix to include the 4K package, I hope Narcos in 4K is worth the upgrade.

I did the same and wow it was worth it. Netflix is brilliant for 4k stuff.

I didn't realise the guy playing Pablo Escobar was the lead actor from the Elite Squad movies!

Watched episode 5 last night in 4K, wow what a difference, it is so much clearer and there is so much more detail, it's almost as if you are actually there.

Who didn't speak a word of Spanish either, so he had to learn as he's Brazilian. Brilliant performance as Pablo.

Season 3 and 4 confirmed was a pleasant surprise, binge watched season 2 in just a few days and will start re-watching season 1 tonight.

I'm done with series 2 hurry up people so we can openly discuss it.

Good work stretching the last part of his life out over a series seemed a good pace. Shame series 1 was so compact.

I like in the last episode where the 2 real DEA agents were seen for a second toasting in a bar to the news of the death of Pablo Escobar
I dearly hope that they do a third series, I don't know if there is enough of a draw for people to watch it now that Pablo Escobar is out, (lets face it, he's why 90% of the viewership watched it).
Indeed.

The "trophyhunter" pic they did was also spot on with the original

I finished watching it yesterday and I know Escobar killed thousands of people but I couldn't help feeling sorry for him at the end.

I think we're on Ep4 - it's if anything even better this year.

Anyone speak Spanish?

Can't help but notice "poo-tah" seems to mean:

we,
fk
Mother-fker
bh

And about a half-dozen other swear words / slurs, how to the caption writers decide which is which? Is there only one decent swear word in Spanish?
From what I gather Puta can be used to call someone a b*tch or a wh*re or to replace the f word. Puta madre then becomes motherf*cker. Puto is the masculine equivalent. You also have the word pendejo used frequently which means idiot and mierda which means sh*t.

On a different note, got to the end of season 2 tonight. Might end up rewatching it all from season 1 again in a few weeks. Superb show.
Puta means 'we'

Hijo de puta (can be shortened to 'hijueputa') means 'son of a we'

Puta madre means 'we mother' normally an expression of surprise rather than an insult. 'Puta madre did you see the norcs on that?' 'Puta madre, the search bloc is outside!'

The use 'malparido' a lot. It means 'badly born' i.e. bd

I'm probably going to ruin Narcos for myself by asking this in here but it seemed like the best place to ask and I've avoided most of the comments so far.

I'm just getting into it after having it bookmarked for ages but am having issues with the subtitles not displaying or being delayed on the Spanish speaking parts. I've watched S1 Ep1 and that was bearable but Ep2 was a pointless exercise as hardly any of the subtitles showed.

I'm viewing via the app on a Sony BDP-S1200 blue-ray player - has anyone else experienced similar issues with this show? All other foreign language stuff on Netflix has always been fine, Narcos is the only thing that's been like this.

I've tried swapping the audio settings but all with no success, my next step is to try other devices but I thought I'd ask in parallel.

Sounds as if it's a native issue you your device / app combo. Is it the same on a regular laptop / PC / Phone?

I had the same issue when I watched an episode on my iPad rather than the TV - I think there is a closed caption option somewhere that needs to be turned on.

Must be your Sony.

Watched it on my cheap Panasonic blu-ray player as I do with all Netflix stuff. The player is two or three years old now but what caught my eye about it was that it had / has a dedicated red Netflix button on the remote control and that is why I bought it!

It is one of those rare pieces of electronic kit that these days works perefectly, seemlessly chucking out a 1080p picture and Dolby Digital sound. I'll only replace it if and when I need to scratch a 4k itch.

Looks like it's the device - like you I picked it for the dedicated Netflix button but it's been pretty pants from day one, very sluggish, clunky menus etc.

I just tried Narcos on my PS4 and it works just fine on that, time to look for a new Blu-ray player or something else to stream Netlix on for the living room then smile

I wathed it via the Virgin Media box. A few times it did this. So what I did it restarted the episode, or went back a little bit and they caught up.
