That Mini Cooper S - £18,000. And never even had an MOT.
There was one in a very similar condition that went for about the same money at an auction @ Brooklands recently. It was, without doubt, one of the sorriest sights I've ever seen.thegreenhell said:

Just discovered this series of programmes. now watching on Catchup two or three at a time.
Very enjoyable without any silly razzamatazz.
I hope its acceptability to motoring enthusiasts is noted by other documentary makers . We're not all 8-year olds with learning difficulties.Very enjoyable without any silly razzamatazz.
(This comment also applies to most documentary makers who make stuff for certain satellite channels and think that dross scripting and badly chosen stock footage is perfectly OK. They're insulting their audience.)

If they'd just turn down (or, preferably, turn off) the background 'music', it would be perfect.

I am watching this on Catchup in batches of 2 or 3. I think I am up to episode 8. Has the Mini Cooper S been on yet? (I might have fallen asleep and missed it, you see!)

Just a thought.
Are the prices made at Mathewsons Auctions much more 'sensible' than would have been made at an auction down here in the Deep South?
That's how it seems to me. No wonder some of them are bought by dealers - take them down the A1 and top up the retail price by a few Thou. Bingo. Are the prices made at Mathewsons Auctions much more 'sensible' than would have been made at an auction down here in the Deep South?

Exactly our thoughts too. Anyone remember how much that guy from Norfolk was bouncing up the prices on those MGBs? Nearly 50%?
Yes, that struck me too.Fortunately, we had just seen the auction, so we knew what the mark up was.
Here's an idea! Why doesn't anyone who is thinking of buying a classic car, buy it direct from Mathewsons?

On the question of what's on offer, not sure what happened to that immaculate restored series 3 linked last month, possibly withdrawn. But lot 1 on tomorrows auction is a Vauxhall Viva 2.3 saloon, immaculate, make good basis for a show car. There's a few Ford Capri on sale, including a coupke of 2.8, and a really nice Singer Gazelle for the Rootes fans. Most on offer isn't my barrow but worth a trip.
Some Jay Leno content for those discussing the 18K Mini Cooper possibly being rebuilt using a new heritage shell:
