I watched mad men years a go and remember picking it up and putting it down. I liked it but I didn’t love it.
I put episode 1 on recently as it’s on Amazon Prime and have roared through to season 4 episode 6.
I still don’t love it, although I do enjoy it. I think it tries a bit too hard a lot of the time.
One thing I’m really noticing now, which I didn’t before, is just how obvious it is that it is filmed on a set and rarely (ever???) on location. I know the first episode was shot in NYC and the rest in LA, I don’t know if they filmed in NYC for specific episodes.
Compare that to The Sopranos which I am also rewatching, and while some things are on a set they also filmed a lot on location and it just feels more organic to me.
Worth a go anyway if you haven’t seen it.
Let’s hope Halb makes a return also! I understand he is on a break with the pandemic etc.

I always felt Mad Men was style over substance.
It looked great and you did grow to like some of the characters, flaws and all, but I always felt the story arc was very much a second thought to the look and feel of the show.
I enjoyed it, but I don't feel any urge to go back to it - It wasn't, for me, groundbreaking TV.
