My god...yikes

Almost as unbelievable is that the term 'success' is being attached to Agents Of Shield!

As has been said...this show is formulaic "villian of the week" guff. Coulsen's character, whilst being an amusing aside in the films, isn't good enough to carry a whole TV series IMHO.

I suspect "success" means that it has achieved ratings levels they hoped for and has thus attracted sufficient advertising revenue, rather than meaning it was ground-breaking television that simultaneously satisfied viewer cravings for thrilling entertainment and deeply moving art.

I think it's rubbish but I've watched it all so far in the hope that suddenly it won't be.

The scene with Coulson jumping out of the boat in a full suit made me laugh.
The red dress made me rewind.

Still seem to be going with the villan of the week model. I actually expected the boss bloke to end up in the Gravitonium so we had an "Evil Tony Stark" character to play with.
The final scene did kinda hint at that.

I think they have to do that villain of the week thing in the first few episodes to get the characters established. Im giving it time and giving it the benefit of the doubt as its only just started and needs time to develop. Their has been quite a few things hinted at during the first few episode that hint at interesting character development.

The 'formula' sort of reminds me of NCIS which is one of the top shows on TV at the moment, obviously these programs are going to be full of tropes, and Coulson's character does hit at the same 'leader' characteristics as Gibbs,

also the veteran, the tough guy, the outsider, the science geeks does match up with NCIS. (or if you will 'the A-team')

Its not that its bad particularly, its just it misses its potential, the same as several other shows have recently.

It doesnt bode well for the treatment of Star Wars going forward though.

I expect a more long term story arc to appear over the next several episodes. As previously stated this seems to be how JW works. Establish the characters first, then build the story.
Personally I think it's getting better with each episode. I have just watched the first few minutes of this weeks episode and looks good again, also filming in Stockholm shows they weren't scrimping on the budget.

I watched the first 3 episodes yesterday having not got round to it so far...

I thoroughly enjoyed it! After seeing some of the comments on here I wasn't expecting much, but I thought was great.

It's fun, doesn't seem to take itself too seriously and is only just getting going.

Nothing groundbreaking, obviously, but it held my attention for all 3 eps and was a decent waste a of a couple of hours smile

Just watching the latest episode now.

Quite enjoyable, amazed how the bottle of scotch (was it scotch?) and the glasses didn't break when gravity turned upside down hehe

Another good episode this week. It's not exactly high brow but it's entertaining in an A-Team or Duke of Hazzard kind of way.

Exactly. I really don't get the people complaining - it's a Marvel show, on at 8pm. It's clearly meant to be lighthearted and fun.

I enjoy it for what it is, fun. That's why I also enjoy watching Smallville, Arrow, Beauty and the Beast etc.

Enjoyable, watchable fun.

Watching the latest it reminded me of when I was a kid on a Saturday and watched knight Rider or the A Team etc. Light hearted, fun, a bit stupid. I started off being not gripped, and its not essential TV, but I'll treat it as fun TV and make the most of it.

I seem to recall all the above were on around 5pm, not 8pm on Friday nights!

And saturday. But with on demand tv, does the day matter anymore? time slots still show where it is aimed, but day doesn't matter.

JW like to spin a season long arc, and after last weeks episode I think we're seeing the beginning of one. I'm enjoying it, it's light hearted, and may last more than 2 series, may not. But will enjoy the ride.

"Marvel is reportedly working on four new drama series and a new miniseries, following the success of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D."

What success? That some countries aired it? confused

God you lot are bloody miserable.

It's not a film, it's light hearted television. As someone else said it's A-Team style.

Unfortunately, riding on the coat-tails of the Marvel super-hero films, they set the bar high. Then ran right under it.

2 sentences, 3 exclamation marks - I must be doing well hehe

Same character, working for the same agancy, set in the same 'universe'...it screams 'comparison'.

The fact that it isn't comparable is probably why there is so much disappointment.
