Top Gear: Patagonia Special

Utterly tedious and depressing to think it's nearly 20 years since I went to Bariloche. I tried to teach my wife to ski by taking her to the top of a "slope" and just telling her to head down. Somehow I managed to overtake her half way down and stop her.
On a more positive note, am I the only one looking at Esprit values? They seem good value compared with my usual car pron but I am guessing there's a reason for that?
I was prevented from reaching Bariloche by a Chilean volcano eruption. The Argentine Andes further north was still good though. And we saw an enormous soaring condor too.On a more positive note, am I the only one looking at Esprit values? Ps. Esprit prices will shoot up from today.
Was watchable, but the "must not trigger an incident" set ups are now making me wonder exactly how real the actual incident was?
The specials seem to be falling through the cracks between Top Gear episodes and Palinesque travelogues. I'm starting to lean towards wanting to see more of the latter to be honest. Keep the interesting cars, but ditch the challenges and actually focus on the locations and the people without the faux incidents and reheated jokes.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I had a fantastic time in Argentina (and briefly in Chile).

I didn't know the Esprit would feature in this, but have coincidently been looking at them in the classifieds over the last couple of days. It was painful to watch one being treated so badly. Strange how a programme can change people's views on cars! My V8 esprit broke down on its way home from the dealers across Birmingham. Had gearbox problems and needed an engine rebuild after 16k miles. I know dealers who won't stock them because of reliability issues and now the prices are going to rise.
Sums up the used car market at the moment I suppose.

Its the first of a two part special, so they're not really going to show all the best bits...
Hammonds Mustang sounded awesome, but took a massive beating on those roads. The Espirit looked super cool, and Clarksons story was quite touching.
Really want to see what those guys on the bikes at the end are going to do in the next episode.
Overall, I'm just happy to be watching Top Gear.

4/10 fell asleep for 10 mins during it and so far that the highlight for me!
Come off it - you actually fall asleep during a show and the first thing you do when you awake is quickly log onto piston heads to post up .... Seriously!!! With a few mins to go 3 mins from the post you made wowsers. If so let's put it down to over indulgence and late nights over the Xmas period and this is the first time you have sat down to watch some TV and being in a comfy sofa drift off.
PART 1:~
Well I enjoyed it. The cars, scenery and various incidents I found interesting. No contrived sillyness often too frequent and spoiling previous longer TG ventures. Even shots of the magnificent Condor. What's not to like?
Have read all the post since 830 broadcast time and simply amazed that so many did not enjoy the show. Me, quite the opposite. Not for the first time I've been well out of step with a hard core of PH posters on a given subject.
