If anyone's interested, there's a Twitter campaign and a petition about this. Apparently the bosses are in discussions at the moment with a couple of other studios in the hope of getting someone else to commission it.

Moreover, the writer was saying he feels guilty because he wrote a cliffhanger ending into tomorrow's episode. eek

No Detectorists, no Lucifer - what are we supposed to watch now?
The adverts. That's all it's about these days frown

Not a bad finale that.

Me and the Mrs have quite enjoyed Lucifer. Fun and not too serious. This finale was what I had been waiting for for a while. Whilst I hope that someone picks it up for a 4th season, I also wouldn't mind too much if they left it there. Don't get me wrong, I now what to see how they play this out, but also just 'dropping the mic' there leaves it all open to the viewers imagination (a bit like the ending of many great films).

Just finished it and that echoes my thoughts, exactly.

Will miss it... but perhaps it's best left there.

And both of you little devils put exactly what I was thinking.
Its open ending also has a sort of closure about it. I'm also a little worried that its started to become a bit repetitive. I think if it ends now it will be considered a classic.

Yeah I thought the last season was a bit poor. First couple were great though.

I really enjoyed the last season - it had one or two "???" episodes but for the most part I thought it was great. It seems to be really getting into its stride now. Personally I'd like to see it continue.

Unless it decides to do a Benidorm or a Plebs and completely lose sight of what it's aiming to achieve, that is.

But on balance - I'd like to keep it. We've already lost Detectorists, I'm fed up with all my favourite programmes being axed! I barely watch TV as it is, it's a pain to lose two of my favourites in a couple of months... (And Benidorm as well, but that was really pretty bad by the end so I'm not so fussed about that one. wink )

Loved the episode & the ending was perfect IF that's where they have to leave it

I'm the same as the above. I quite like it left there.

It's not like I see Lucifer settling down and playing happy families with the detective, so not really sure where they can take it.

If it gets a 4th series I'll definitely watch it but I think an extended final episode or indeed nothing more would be equally OK by me.

Thing is there are still two extra 'standalone' episodes they haven't shown.

Not sure how those would work without a renewal (say for example on DVD/streaming release) as the other standalones didn't form part of the main story arc but they still have to acknowledge the major events.

Always good to have more but they might end up as a bit of a random stump of story.

Latest is that Lucifer has been cancelled by FOX in the US. Just as Chloe realises Lucifer is actually the Devil. And what a way for Tom Welling to go out!!! Tom Ellis even gets on Newsnight about the furore caused by Fox's Cancellation.

I wish the people who run/write US shows would learn not to assume that there will be another series.

Often, it doesn't matter - an episode of NCIS, for example, is usually self-contained - but if there is an overall story to be resolved they should just sign a contract for 1 or 2 or 3 seasons and write the beginning, the middle, and the end.

UK television doesn't seem to have this problem nearly as much as the US. I assume that it's driven by the desire to create enough episodes to make "syndication", which is only an issue in North America.

Sounds like the last two bonus episodes are out next week, apparently both showing on Fox on the 28th which usually means Amazon UK the day after.

Enjoyed those. Real standalone episodes but good fun especially the second one.

Also a bit random spotting Louis Herthum/Peter Abernathy from Westworld.
