Great. So now we know that Roper doesn't get caught at the end of this one rolleyes
Who's to say he doesn't get caught? We know from the show that the UK government are involved in his dodgy combine harvester deals.

Well, we don't quite know that, only that someone in a position in government is. Unless I wasn't watching closely enough, which is possible. This series may well come to a conclusion and then use some of the same characters in an entirely new storyline.

Exactly, the news that a second series might be commissioned is hardly a spoiler.

I finally remembered last night who Roper's right hand man, the short guy with the real dark edge to him reminded me of:

Spookily, having not heard a thing about these two for years, have a new series starting tonight.

Agreed. I would say it tops Happy Valley but then it does have a story by John le Carré and his help on the production. wink

In Roper's party there's a permanent air of menace where you think that at any moment there's going to be exploding heads and broken kneecaps. Meanwhile there's all sorts of dirty deeds going on in the corridors of power. Great stuff.

Agreed. I don't think her character has made a lot of sense until tonight.

It's quickly turned into one of those dramas that I wish I'd Sky+'d then watched back-to-back.

Enjoying it so far even if I'm not entirely sure what's going on. The only thing that bothers me is how quickly and easily Pine has become Roper's right hand man. I'd imagine a man who makes multiple hundreds of million dollar arms deals would be a bit more selective about choosing his most trusted staff and would have thought that the best Pine could have expected would have been a decent cash pay out for saving Roper's son.

Unless of course that's the twist and Roper knows about Pine and is setting him up for a big fall along with his girlfriend. For someone for whom information is everything he does seem to know very little about things close to home.

Elderly toff a bit miffed in the restaurant. Very lavish production and much appreciated, thanks Beeb.

I love this. Another great episode.

Every second of it feels like they could just kill Pine at any moment! Very tense!
