Missus turned it on last night and I half watched the program, what a complete pile of dung,

Le blanc or what ever his name is has Zero Personality, the other two both get thumbs down from me also.
that crap about passing all those cars on the ring rolleyes Many people want to experience the ring without smashing up their cars, when you have a race driver who grew up on the circuit drive a car that is not their own, they thrash the life out of the thing. In the end it comes down to the Driver, Not the cars.
Expect some chump to now say "Yea it beats a 911 and a lambo round the ring" at the next supermarket evening car park meet rolleyes Sad. And as for that so called Celebrity....Who? Hope the kids enjoyed the car being smashed up in the spreader banghead
Utter Rubbish.
Love these classic PH posts which pretend theyre so cool that they don't know who the celebrities are :-)

Are you saying you don't really know Matt Le Blanc's name and you have no idea who Tamsin Greig is?
Never heard or seen a program with that woman in to my Knowledge mate, As for the American, His laid back sort of humor does not work for the UK IMO. Not sure why you thing i'm pretending to be cool? Must be a Youth thing coffee
This from a man who calls himself "big biggles"....

Fatbloke you do realise that Clarkson and co liked to smash stuff up, in fact Clarkson did a whole DVD on it and i bet you own it. Or are you saying you never watched Top Gear with Clarkson and co either because they smashed up loads of cars..loads.

Why would it be "cool" not to know who some obscure "celebrity" is. I googled her and am none the wiser.
Having said that, I don't spend my life watching the google box... I dare say that's probably because I'm "cool" (in the "this is an insult" sense)too. wink

As for TG, I always go out on Sunday nights so watch it Monday evening... I'll let you know but having an extreme aversion to clipped, loud, German women, I can't see this going well.
I have never bothered with Amazon prime or The Grand Tour so have no comparator.

You may not watch much TV but you chosen as your user name one of the best shows out on TV - Lucifer with some alteration to the title.

The corollary of this is why is it "not cool" or "uncool" to know who the particular guest is?

I only know her from Episodes, an excellent series, Friday Night Dinner, ditto, and Black Books, again ditto. All her other stuff had passed me by, including Shaun of the Dead. But if I hadn't recognised the name, would it have mattered square root of bugger all? No it wouldn't, the criteria should be is the interview interesting, funny or whatever.

This "who is this guest" malarkey or fawning over particular guests is just white noise that's a distraction. However long ago accepted that I must be uncool as, for example, I know who Jay Kay is yet still think he's a weapons grade bell end. paperbag

I see that Top Gear is returning to America, with an Actor, a racing driver, and Tom Ford.
Why not just keep the 3 they have now? I'm a big fan of the US one, especially once they buggered the studio bit off.
I have no idea. Who were the previous three?

Tamsin was in Green Wing, Black Books and Extras with MLB, probably why she's on the show.

Wow must be a lot of fanboys here! For the record I don't own any Videos or DVD's of Top Gear tongue out

And with the old Clarkson series I used to also hate the Smash things up crap, particularly because much of that was done at Dunsfold where I drive my car a lot and have had a screw in the tyre there (probably from some shed of a caravan)!
I used to also think the Car Football was crap too.
However I did realise that it was an entertainment show and the banter between the other 3 was rather funny, especially the controversial bits which certain countries found offencive biggrin
Anyway, this is an open forum and I expressed my opinion. Not a fan I'm afraid.

Tanner Foust, Rutledge Wood & Adam Ferrara.

Unless you have seen the show probably the only one that is recognisable is Tanner Foust.

I thought the previous 3 guys were really good, what a pity.

Is this Tom Ford the pretentious film director/fashion dick?

Not enough casual racism and bigotry anymore for you to laugh at..fair enough. I sort of watch it because I like cars and stuff.

Watched the first two, pleasantly surprised, Harris brings a lot to it, that proper PH geekiness, prefer it to the Grand Tour, not finished all them yet, not all that fussed.

And that's the reason why ratings are falling.

Someone commented about the music. The bit they used at the start of the golf bit is from the tron soundtrack. Top gears been using that soundtrack for years.

Watched last nights on Iplayer earlier. Big thumbs up for me. The Aston piece was brilliant but had some great shots in it and the banter seemed more credible than earlier. I'd have liked a little more on why the Clubsport S is so capable and I thought the 124 bit wasn't bad for a quick review but why not put it up against the MX5 for more of the segment to prove the point?

The guest piece grates (as it always did) because 9 times out of 10 they have someone on (a car show) who doesn't give a st about cars which just makes everyone else look like a pocket wking geek. Trying to make their presence car-related by keeping them on the sofa for most of the show just draws out the agony.

I think it is more likely the motoring journalist of the same name who previously presented Fifth Gear...

First half of Aston feature was good. I find Matt Le Blanc is genuinely good in the role, a decent driver too.
Rory and Chris left me cold. I'm still not certain TV presenting is their forte..

PS.. I actually think the Triumph Dolomite Sprint was a great car.. Ok, built in 'challenging times' for BL / Triumph but innovative (engine-wise), attractive and very quick.

I'm not convinced it is him driving. I noticed before that on the shots of him caning the Aston around the track you could never see the driver.

I'm sorry to say that I actually think this is getting better and better. By the end of the series it might be really good indeed. If nothing else it might make CHM take a long, hard look at the pompous mess that was at least three or four episodes of TGT.

As I said, sorry. getmecoat
