i still enjoyed it despite it being more subdued than previous road trips.

Could the restrained nature of part one be due to the unplanned chaos that erupts in part 2?

Better or worse than the dire India trip?

I enjoyed the first episode - but then I still watch all the repeats on Dave from all the specials. Miles better than anything else on TV.

Jezza's 928 story is the exactly same as me and my 330, except I didn't have a chicken for a passenger, I had my son.

What happened to the J.C. Porche? I fell asleep and woke up to J.C. with soldering iron (seemed to look like he knew what he was doing as well)

Far better, India was by far the worst road trip they have done.

The suspension sheared through the wiring loom.

Top mounts? No bonnet damage?

The choice of cars was superb for what are old cars now the Porsche and lotus really his their years well. I imagine part two is going to be better traditionally they are allowed to modify / fix their cars.

The scenery is stunning roads are stunningly bad!

4/10 fell asleep for 10 mins during it and so far that the highlight for me!
Come off it - you actually fall asleep during a show and the first thing you do when you awake is quickly log onto piston heads to post up .... Seriously!!! With a few mins to go 3 mins from the post you made wowsers.

If so let's put it down to over indulgence and late nights over the Xmas period and this is the first time you have sat down to watch some TV and being in a comfy sofa drift off.
Nope I thought it was very poor, had I have been enjoying it I wouldn't have even looked on Ph until after the end or fell asleep. Scenery was good the rest was just same old.

Indeed - also found it insulting regarding the dabba. Poor form.

Well definitely some mods happen. As the Mustang had an external roll cage in the "Next Time...." clips.

I liked the Inda one, last night's was average at best.

Positives were the choices of car and scenery, nothing more. Nothing will ever novice me that the whole number plate thing wasn't set up though.

They've played with number plates before and there is no way on earth that nobody noticed the significance of the Porsche plate. I know we don't want to open this whole can of worms again but i am absolutely certain the thought process went like this:

Where haven't we done?
Argentina.
Excellent, lets find a classic car with an original and potentially offensive number plate.
Look, here's a 928 sure to offend.
Brilliant, we need two more V8's

The whole format is a set up.Do you really think they just follow the map and happen to end up in a swamp or an unfinished bridge ? Of course not. They send researchers out months beforehand to find 'interesting' places to film at.
As for Clarkson repairing the Porsche, they have a support crew of mechanics.
It's a load of contrived tosh but if that's what you enjoy watching, fine.

I really enjoyed it, I have never been to Argentina, but it looked beautiful and far from the image my head had made up about it.

I am rooting for the Lotus. smile

They may be quite old cars, but the Mustang is extremely old.

Some of the roads over there are very rough (and I sought them out when I was there), but.... Proper, metalled main roads do actually exist in Argentina.

Bariloche-Ushuaia doesn't actually need to involve driving through a field, wood and flooded moss....

Somebody could drive from Manchester to the Peak via Rushup Edge or London to Oxford via the Ridgeway if they so wished.

Not the best but thought clarkson was very open and real about his parents and set the tone very early. Hopefully tonight it picks up. 6/10

Special mention for the lotus, sheer respect.

It's light entertainment though, if you want to see proper expeditions thru the arctic or jungle then i guess some sort of national geographic documentary would be more suitable.

It is indeed light entertainment but by the way some people are discussing it on here you'd think it was a documentary. That's pretty much my point really.Oh and it was crap smile
