Very good. Olivia Coleman is excellent.
Even as the dowdy forgetful mum in Green Wing she was excellent.
Very good in Broadchurch as well.
There was a bit of Green Wing kept coming through until her Sports Day explanation and exasperation scene at the end!

Overall, the show keeps it wonderfully tense throughout though.

Loving it although the acting of that guy that plays the gay hobbit is making me cringe a bit though.

I presume you mean Tom Hollander. He's a very good actor and if he's making you cringe perhaps that's because the character he's playing is pretty cringeworthy.

It's going to be interesting to see just how far to the top the corruption goes. Maybe government ministers? Or is it simply that they're trying to find outlets for their native arms industries?

Someone mentioned earlier that Roper's woman could be a CIA plant, and that she and Pine are trying to do the same job, not realising that they're in each other's way. I concur.

The only bit that rankles for me is that Pine is STILL shagging the bosses missus having been sussed by the mentally unstable corky already.

Deep undercover and having been warned already about what the likely outcome would be for both him and Jed in reality you wouldn't go within 100 yards of her thereafter in the real world.

Frankly it's a plot device that's been done to death now.

That did annoy me.

We were both "what are the idiots doing?" they both know the risks.

Maybe he is gambling on Corky telling Roper, and then convincing him it shows how far Corky will lie to keep himself in the circle and convincing Roper that Corky needs to 'go'?

It will be the stand-off that shows where Ropers future loyalty will lie.

Or Pine just finds her irresistible!

There is definitely involvement from the CIA in the circle somewhere but she is too obvious.

This and 11.22.63 are the best things on TV at present. I never really rated Tom Hiddleston, after only seeing him in the Avengers films as Loki - but can see him donning a white tux jacket and replacing Daniel Craig in 007's shoes. The best part, however for me, is Hugh Laurie as Roper, he's completely believable as the sort of chap you wouldn't cross-paths with, if you could avoid it. Bravo Aunty Beeb.

She looks just fine to me.
I must admit to saying to my wife "She's very skinny" when she was crying in her room, but when she entered the sea, she was really quite curvaceous.
It was the way she was hunched over in the room that made her look skinny, because it showed her ribs clearly. If you watch her in the bath & pool at Zermatt and changing underwear before being on the phone in e2 she's not that skinny.

The first ep, the Brienne of Tarth replica rings home and has a chat with her mum. We don't find out much save that her mum is hostile to her daughter, but willing to take her cash, call her a 'ho', etc.

In the third ep we find out she has a son, and HL is fine with paying for him.
You're half right. It's the start of the second ep where the mum calls her. She asks "How's Billy" and the mother says "They say he doesn't even ask about you anymore"

So mum doesn't have the kid but "They" do.

(Had to quickly skip through both ep!)
yes

I binge watched the 1st 3 last night & got the impression that Daniel is her kid as well? She was referred to as his Mum a couple of times.

So she's Mum to the little blonde boy that Roper didn't know about and his son.

Ep. 4 confirms that this is not correct - Daniel is sent off to be with his mother.

This is everything Bond should be in my opinion. A baddie who has real fking depth, an actual human being! Not a 1mm 2 dimensional fucing cut-out of a 'psycho', 'Oooo I'm so bad 'cas I'm bad' Dr Evil sort. Reminds me of that last real Bond baddie from Licence To Kill.

yes Great casting, tis a shame that Tom's being cast in this has pretty much by the kibosh on him playing Bond frown (JleC HATES Bond!)

Personally I think the whole Bond franchise has run it's course. Suspense thrillers like The Night Manager are so much more relevant in the 21stC.
