This thread needs closing. Either some folk are trolling and looking to get comments or they don’t know how to be civil.
Shame. But PH (at least on the evidence of this thread) continues to change for the worse.
I just try to ignore those threads where people say stuff I don't like or agree with, unless I feel it's worthwhile discussion.Shame. But PH (at least on the evidence of this thread) continues to change for the worse.
I certainly don't like the idea of people being able to persuade admin to close a thread by simply trolling.
Admin can delete comments if they don't fall within the forum rules and for the rest - surely we can just ignore and move on.
You're certainly right about some people not being civil though. Perhaps if we had to post under our own personal and verified identities, people would behave a little better but I realise that could never happen.

Oh yes...the good old `Cancel culture`. Dont like reading what's been said so shut it down. Now I may not agree with what some people say but they have the right to thier own opinion. This thread has its ups and downs, good days, bad days. Its called a discussion. Long may it live.Shame. But PH (at least on the evidence of this thread) continues to change for the worse.

Just because he was in second gear and accelerated to a 50 does not mean booting it at all, he could of gradually accelerated towards 50. But I don't know and I don't know, so why bother trying to assume the worse.
It's called an opinion, and I like anyone else is entitled to have one.In my experience being in 2nd as the road changes from 30 to 50 suggests more spirited driving and heavier acceleration than leaving it in 3rd or 4th.
It also doesn't (again in my opinion/experience) tally with the statement made about taking it really easy, not booting it at all.
I'm not suggesting he was driving like an absolute tool, but not perhaps as gently as was made out
As i said its just my opinion, clearly you have a different one.
Indeed it's one of the main reasons places like PH exists, so we can debate our views and opinions.
After all opinions are like aholes, we all have one.
So maybe in the future you don't try and shut someone down because there's differs to yours

I take it you've driven a 1000bhp twin turbo Lamborghini Gallardo given that you're going off your own experience? In my experience being in 2nd as the road changes from 30 to 50 suggests more spirited driving and heavier acceleration than leaving it in 3rd or 4th.

Makes want to go to Japan
Agreed. I've wanted to go for years and this is not helping. Danny is over for 2 months I think he said but loving his videos of the place.Really felt for him trying to put his foot down out of the toll booths trying to keep up.
That view over the city at 2am from the mountain would be worth the trip alone.
Hope he manages to get some decent sleep before the race!

Why do some folk seem obsessed with the idea of shutting down any negative or critical content in this thread? What's their obsession with moderating people's opinions? If it's not that it's purple jumping on anything negative and mislabeling it as jealousy. So so odd.
It is a bit odd, providing the comments are civil as somebody else said, we should be able to comment in the same way we would about actors or sports people or whatever. There was a thread about 'Annoying Youtubers' a while back that for some reason got closed with the response that this is the thread for that topic of discussion.

He's right though, this thread has been awful these past few days.
This whole forum is pretty awful to be fair. When I first started using this place I thought is was almost bullst free until I hung around for a while. Turns out Pistonheads is not free from the trolls, gimps, basement dwellers, jealous folk and hate-filled morons you see all over social media. Too old for this st, I just appreciate the amount of car content available and all for free by guys and girls willing to take a big risk to make it happen.

I generally don't get on with most American YouTubers, but I've been really enjoying this chap:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK4pb0_5XuI&t=...
Formerly of Hoonigan, but I never watched that (for no particular reason, just didn't appeal)
Was also going to mentions Vin's new channel a while back.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EK4pb0_5XuI&t=...

Not sure what is going on at Hoonigan - they all seem to have started their own chanels. Anyway I think Vin has launched a fairly fresh series of vlog videos. If you can get used to the surfer/skate slang, his photography and colour saturation of californian life really is watchable to me. Great car colection; although selling his RX7 looked a tough choice. Really looking forward to progress on the 360 project.
I suppose since BBS LM rims have always been a fave wheel of mine I was always going to like this channel!
Annoyingly, he is possibly one of the coolist car guys on You Tube??
