I thought the son was going to say it was his and they had no right to hit it with the strimmer!
I didn’t hear if they were given it or just found it and kept it.

I think the son of the original owner really didn't want it to be a £1million Henry Moore sculpture, he seemed to do a lot of his own research in order to prove otherwise.

I absolutely love this programme, and I'm surprised they haven't promoted the new series more. I'm certainly no expert, but I did grow up in Wakefield, where Moore's work and that of Barbara Hepworth's were all over the place. It just didn't look like his work. I know that is no guarantee, but there were elements of Hepworth's ideas and he would never have done that. Oh, and it looked like a random lumpy rock nor a shaped and carefully carved sensual figure.

Very unusual to start a series with a very clear "no" though, and what looked like no pretty much all the way through.

Could have saved us all the trouble if they'd just gone "we're going to find out if Neil and Barbara have a genuine Henry Moore... they don't. See you next week"

It's a case of the journey rather than the destination.

But this looked a reet dud from the off, was the weight not a giveaway it being mainly aluminium ?

You're right, and it was interesting to find out about Moore and Jewson etc.

However with most of these shows, I've a feeling they find out the answer within hours of seeing the piece, but carry on if they think they can get an interesting show.

A lot of the studio work was clearly done in the same day, based on Fiona's hair/clothes.

The conversation where she says she needs to find out more about Jewson so she's going to track him down - then later she's in the same studio, same clothes, with the case completely solved. It's all done in a day or two.

Yes, usually we are fans but this episode was a very weak start.

Think they put this episode first due to the value, some of his works have been sold for £24 million.

As soon as they said it the sculpture was solid it had to be aluminium due to the weight.

He was probably jaded at his mother giving her house in her will away to that couple rather than him!

Yes, house and contents which nearly contained a million pound sculpture!

Agree, something didnt look right from the start, it just looked a little clumsy, especially the feet.
Soon as it was revealed to be aluminium, the game was over.
Onwards and upwards

The owner of this painting looks to me to be a better artist than Gerome. Interesting that his mate dissed the painting.

It is!

I wasn’t sure - it could’ve gone either way this week.

A thoroughly good detective adventure this week! And that chap is a heck of an artist.

A good example of finding minute details that look like they disprove it being an original, only to find out that the opposite is true.

I noticed Fiona Bruce was wearing the same clothing all throughout the episode this week, despite it clearly being shot over a considerable period of time. I wonder if they do that to make continuity easier.

Fifi covering her hair in a submissive support of cultural misogyny or a display of respect for multiculturalism ?

I thought Fiona was a kicking balls feminist, but there you go.

Good episode, I thought its number was up with the signature being a bit iffy.

She didn't. The subsequent owner did

Do you expect them to shoot all the studio segments in sequence?

Can everyone come to the studio to film the decision for Fiona to go to Venice. Should only take 30 seconds. Then everyone come back next week to hear what she's discovered. Then just pop back the following Tuesday in case Philip finds a photo in a book....

Of course all the studio acting is filmed across a few days hehe

Not bad for £50 off ebay.
