I am actually being positive and looking forward to seeing it, nothing could ever recapture how I felt as a kid seeing GB for the first time, coming out of that cinema absolutely giddy and wanting to go right back in and watch it again, no film has ever had such an impact on me.
No film-maker can please everyone, die hard fans are the worst to cater for, all have different opinions and are hard to please, a fanboy pleasing movie might not be something commercially successful and that is ultimately what it is about, even then, it might be a bit disappointing, had they brought back the old crew, had Harold Ramis not died and Bill Murray got involved, could it be as good anyway ? I think JJ Abrams has done the best job of pleasing all the people all of the time, with a well judged remake/reboot of the Star Wars films, not sure if this will be as skilfully crafted to please fanboys and not alienate the normals, guessing not but I am keeping an open mind.
I am prepared to give it a chance, I think the blonde girl looks like she could be good, the wig/hat bit was pure GB I thought, Mellissa McCarthy can be very, very funny.
I like the new Ecto, last time it was a twenty five year old hearse as it was big and cheap, thirty years on, the old Ecto is no longer a big, cheap old car, its a classic, its a low budget operation so they get the contemporary equivalent of a 1959 Miller Meteor Hearse, a twenty odd year old Cadillac hearse, a model that would have been in active service with Funeral homes up and down the US when the original GB came out, far too expensive for the fledgling operation back then so this makes sense, its a bit obvious but it fits, a new car wouldn't work, GB is about make do and mend, shabbiness and "experimental" hardware, not shiny new stuff. A van could have worked or something else re-purposed but I think the 80s hearse fits perfectly here.
Am amazed how much love there is for GB out there, it was always a bit of a guilty pleasure but it amazes me how big it is for an 80s movie.

I'm not, the 80's was THE golden age for movies as far as I am concerned. Guvernator said:

It's true. For action, comedy, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, the 80s is a head above other decades.I think part of it stems from the baby boomers who grew up in the golden age of US telly who then were in power to bring their own creative visions to the screen. And what about now? We have book adaptations and reboots and remakes.
The 70's is good for conspiracy/paranoia. 90's good for gritty, noir, post-modern.
International trailer has some different footage, and changes "four scientists" to the more accurate "four friends"

And a joke at the end I actually kindof laughed at

Seems eh four scientist would have been accurate if Ghostbusters had gone the way of the original story.
Winston has been on FB feed recently. When he originally auditioned, W. Zedmore was in it from the start, as a scientist-major in the army. When they started filming though, he had been pushed to the second half as some walk-in.

God it actually gets worse when you watch it again. Such weak gags and if that's the best bits like all films out now it'll be st
The problem for me is the humour - it just seems so forced. It's like the director doesn't think people will get subtle humour and instead has to have the cast scream the jokes in your face.
They may as well have "Laugh now" flash up on the screen every time one of them tells a joke or executes a gag.

For some reason I actually let my hopes get raised slightly so I watched this and oh my god it's dreadful, even worse looking than before. The writing and acting just look so poor.
If a ghost was standing in front of you and decided to throw up for quite a long while on you, you'd react by jumping back and not stand there and let it cover you.
Wouldn't you?
It took 11 years for Deadpool to be made, then it broke box office figures for a comic book based film and now this dirge. It's pretty clear the film studios haven't got a clue about what their customers want. I hope it tanks and takes all those associated with it too.

Dear oh dear. They have completely ruined this franchise.
The four characters aren't even funny in the other stuff they do (apparently they are from SNL).
Saturday night live was where the originals came from(mostly), trouble is, it ain't what it used to be. All the huge stars that used to be on, Dan Akroyd, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Jane Curtin, etc.. Great people all. Now not so much. The four characters aren't even funny in the other stuff they do (apparently they are from SNL).

A must have for any fan.

Ps. Adam Savage's one day build Hellboy Sword is well worth watching too. I'd like a shed like his.
