I'll agree if you dissect the film, it doesn't make sense, but your watching a film about dinosaurs brought to real life by advance cloning techniques. What your after is Billy and the cloneasaurus

AWOL 72 - not a bad film staring Luke Goss, a few nice action sequences (and a lovely late 70s TransAm briefly) but a little disjointed

Inherent Vice

I'm very much a fan of Paul Thomas Anderson's film's: Boogie Nights, Magnolia, The Master, Punch Drunk Love and There Will Be Blood are all easily '8s' for me. So, I was looking forward to this coming out on blu-ray.

Set in the 70's, Joaquin Phoenix is a private detective very much in 'weed culture'. His ex turns up one day with a mystery, then disappears. He then unravels clues and uncovers a drug importing scheme, potential kidnapping and all sorts on his way to try and find out where she is.

However, this is not 'Taken', and far from it. Think of the opposite in pace. Then take the very complicated storyline over the ten hours of True Detective season two, and try something as complex in 2 1/2 hours. There's a hint of 'film noir' in there with the type of mystery it is and the characterisations, but it's a very sunny California, 70's stoner version.

It's shot nicely, as you would expect, and there are a couple of comedic moments that made me smile, but it really seems to plod on through 2 1/2 hours.

Sadly, 5.5/10

You've made it sound interesting to me. I like slower paced films generally, problem is I can't stand any of his other films.

This is his worst by some way.

Phoenix mumbles like a stoner, and some mildly funny/zany things happen, but you don't actually care about any of the characters.

I thought about this last night, it is just missing 'something' major. It's got a taste of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Lite version but without all the crazy/funny drug stuff. It's got a taste of L.A. Confidential Lite version but with no violence and with a plot/mystery that is inconsequential.

It the plot of True Detective season two where you have to rewind sections to work out what they said, but because at the end of every scene Phoenix is so chilled you kind of shrug your shoulders and go 'meh' at the end of each scene with him in a light hearted way.

It's not serious enough to make you care about the plot or characters, but it's not funny enough to be a comedy.

Inherent Vice is better than Jupiter Rising.

By default.

Inherent Vice isn't *that bad*, there's just a ton of films that are a lot better.

If you haven't seen it already, try Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, with Robert Downey Junior and Val Kilmer.

Fast and the furious 7 - yes it's complete nonsense but it's a fun ride. The blue gtr and the American car (Camero?) Letty was driving at the end were my favourite plus the tribute to Paul was very touching.

Bought the Mad Max Anthology Blu-Ray set so sat down to watch Fury Road last night with SWMBO.

Got 20 mins in before the incessant "Who was Mel Gibson?; Is this post-apocalyptic or distopian? I don't like post-apocalyptic stuff; what is happening?; what is she doing in it?; I don't understand this." got to much for me and I switched it off frown

Anyway, from what I saw I am really glad I saw it in the cinema. It didn't quite work on a TV.

Maybe I need to get a bigger TV biggrin

Appeared on Netflix and Mrs McDonald wanted to see it (Nicholas Cage fan you see)

Er well it's a film that I watched.

It's got a rotten tomatoe score of 2% which seems overly generous to be honest. It could well be the worst film I have ever seen. It's not even got the so bad it's good thing going for it. There is quite literally nothing good to say about it.

0/10
Oh my fking God . It's like a school production where they are doing a parody of a school production. Who green lights these things and how can Cage act so bad.

Disclaimer I only caught the last 30 minutes it was hilariously bad.

The Breakfast Club. I just watched it for the first time. Its meant to be an iconic 80's film but i just didnt get it. Was it because i was born 3 years before it was released or is it really nothing special?

People who were part of the original thread(s). smile

I know exactly what he means.

Somewhere between a 5 3/4 and a 5 4/5ths,

PH. Accuracy out of 10 matters.

Edited to add:

You do realise that posters are going to post their out of ten's to several decimal places now, just to piss you off don't you? smile

Better than 5 not quite a 6 don't know how else to put it smile

Ratings mean st anyway there are people on here that would rate prometheus near ten and I'd give one just for looking good. Unless it was a bad day and I'd give it -1 when I remembered films need to have more than looking good.

Oh st the Prometheus fan boys and the score police are going to be in my back now.

Just watching Driven with Sly Stallone. OMG! I know it's make believe but it's just ridiculous. The 'crash' scenes are just so far fetched they're funny. I'm into the final ten minutes but can't tear myself away for comedy value. It makes stuff from Pixar look like documentary!

Paul - Geeks meet Alien.
Both the Mrs and I enjoyed this and even though she missed most of the in-jokes (Star Wars Cantina etc.) we were both laughing out loud at several points. 8/10
